    Re: Rack and Head

Do combos work well for playing live? because i really like the sound of the ENGL Screamer combo. Or would it be best to get the head and put it through my marshall cab?

A combo will work fine IMO. Sometimes they develop vibration issues but most are of a solid build. Some guys swear buy using separate head seperate cab but I've seen guys use combos both tube and solid state and get a great tone in a club. If a combo is more convenient for you, they can be found for as much as a head selling price..just gotta shop for one.

my rivera m-100 was a combo for years. then as we began playing more and more shows out of town, i had rivera build separate head and speaker cabs. it has been split ever since. before that, i'd take the combo and use it either alone in smaller venues, or sitting on top of a 4x12 in larger venues.

combos work very well for live. they may not look as "cool" as a half stack, but it's really about the sound, and combos can deliver!!
        GEAR:
