Damn Rob, I been there, but not with an MSD, just a normal GM HEI, and THAT is around 35-50k volts, I think you might have hit with more, or t least a lot more times, they rebuild voltage quick (MSD = multiple spark discharge).

Those thing really fry your ass. That is a real waker upper.

Cleveland Metal, i guess they are bringing the voltage up in the rocktron preamp to drive the tube. I can't imagine using 12V to supply the tube.
Yes i have 230V here coming out of the wall socket. However the power transformer i have is also easily wired for 110V use or anything between. Yet again that's the reason why there are so many cables around the transformer.

Well i don't know but i don't think those caps can store the voltage for weeks. I measured it after some minutes and it already was down. But normally i know where to touch and avoid the power supply section if i don't really have to.

If you want to get into DIY i think the best start is building a pedal. It's cheap, not to complicated and not as dangerous as a project involving tubes.

If you follow the link i posted above you get to the site of the guy who did all the design work. There is a link called "Belichtungsvorlage" where you can get the layout. However you need to make your own boards as those are only infos found on the page.
I already made about 30 of various boards in total and really it isn't rocket science.

Yes drilling can be a bit tricky but if you use a leveler for all the holes, a drill stand and good drills (just but a new set and it's a breeze with new drills) it's doable.

Also thanks for the nice words

Oh yeah, Ive been there many times on a standard GM HEI, but the MSD and Blaster coil made the stock HEI feel like a 9v battery on your tounge.

As for drilling the holes in the board, you might be interested in a dremel drill press. They make neat little drill press' that hold in the dremel tool. Ive never used it on a PCB yet, but Id tend to think that it would work great!

Well i have a dremel, although without a drill press . But i use a small drill stand (stands are mandatory for drilling pcbs as those very small drills WILL break if you don't use a stand) with an integrated drill press.

Well even with a drill stand i managed to break several drills. But overall it works quite good.

Well this really depends. Provided you have all the parts, you are skilled and have enough experience with such projects and don't do any major mistakes i guess you can finish this project in one weekend.
However i normally need more time. Several weeks always go by before i am completing such a project. There are several reasons. Mostly i don't have much time from Monday til Friday so the weekend is normally building time. I always wait until i need parts for more then one project before i order them. Often i am missing some parts which i need to reorder and then i wait once again some time until i order because it's just not worth it to order only 5 resistors.
