So does any one use an ADA Mp-1? how do they sound? By the way, would a solid state power amp really ruin tone?

IMO the MP2 has more useable sounds and flexibility and much fatter sounding gain intensity. The possibilities it giver over the MP1 I think are worth the additional 100.00 you'll likely spend in getting one if you consider it.
MP-1 is a good basic preamp, very 80's.. but as mentioned has limitations...including a rather 'weak' sounding clean that needs to be offset in how you set parameters. Even the MP2 still has this same problem but the cleans are better soudning IMO. Overall the ADA does sound better with a tube amp IMO as well, especially with 6L6's but I have used it with a solid state. You get what you pay for, and for a 150.00 bucks you get a few useable tones that you can gig with and that is about it unless you start 'enhancing' it with outboard stuff.

Thanks for the time to write that. I've also been thinking of just buying one and putting it through my JCM900. Having the JCM900 on a pretty clean sound (used as a power amp) and use the MP-1 for most of the distortion. Would this fatten up the sound at all? or make it sound really shitty?

Actually, as much as I hate the JMP-1, I thought they got a pretty heavy sound out of the JMP-1 into the front end of the 800. Basically like using a distortion pedal really.
After hearing it, I found it to be quite cool. Lotsa crunch, edge, and clarity really. Not too far removed from using a good pedal I'm sure though, just more flexibility.
Hey hammer, how do you like those G-Flex cabs with your Vetta? I'm planning to get a Vetta combo and use it in conjunction with my 1960A 4x12 when I want to crank it up, but if it offered a big improvement, I'd look into getting one of those G-Flex cabs for it (easier to carry than a 4x12, I'd guess).
Where did you get that Doraemon?
My Daughter has been watching it on Cable evryday and she loves it!

I'm in Malaysia. The cult of Doraemon is strong here. My wife is from Hong Kong and has had a Doraemon habit for many years, so there's memorabilia piling up all over he place. Good job we have kids or it would look kinda strange
