Re: Mini Amp Fest: Bogner Diezel Carvin Mesa Orang

"This may be a dumb question, but why would you use an amp like the Legacy, or any other higher gain amp and not use the distortion channel for distortion?"

Because the clean channel is so good and I like to run various other things through it. The distortion channel doesn't seem that high gain to me. But, I haven't messed with it a whole lot. I'll put it on my to do list. That's why I was curious about Robo's settings.

I think for that clip, settings on the lead channel were:

      Presence 7, Treble 7.5, Mid 5, Bass 6, & Drive 8

      You can also try:

Presence 8, Treble 6.5, Mid 6, Bass 5, & Drive 7 which has a slightly less smooth tone.

Volume is set normally on 1.5 for Lead and 1 for Clean. Cabs/speakers make a big differene in tone what are you running your Legacy with Hyperfuzz?

can you plug a pre-amp into the FX return of the legacy and bypass the pre and just use the poweramp and still have a master volume control on the legacy?

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I just have the stock 4x12 Legacy cabinet.

Dreamland_Rebel... don't know about still having use of the volume control but, I know that you can use it as a power amp via the efx return.

If its like the Carvin X100B and the MTS3200 you will NOT have a master volume control. When I plugged my GT-6 into either of those amps effects return I had to control the volume from the GT-6. None of the controls on the amp worked.

Played a VH4 and an Ecstacy today... dug both but, the Bogner MUST have an A/AB switch and I only like on Class A with the OLD voicing position on the rear switch. The VH4 is a totally different vibe than the Herbert. Way cool. Also play and Uberschall but, did not like the tones it had with the gain past 5. The clean channel was actually pretty good on the Uber.

I also happened to pick up a custom Uberkab today

The uber is a weird amp, as you realy have to understand it to appreciate it. First the Mid is not realy the mid, and the presense is more of the mid's. Download the manual and you will understand better. I use to make the same mistake till i got one, read the manual and played with it, and holy shit your opinion will change. Almost as brutal and as much bottem end as a recto and in my opinion has enough bottem end. The difference is the voicing is slightly different but close, but the amp is alot tighter. The recto is a great rythem amp where the uber is a great in between amp, you just have to know how to EQ it. The exctasy is also a great amp, but alot of tricks with it too. However i found the XTC to be more of a regular rock to metal amp where the uber is a pure full blown metal beast. I keep going back and forth on selling the XTC as i dont use it much as i either play the uber or my marshall JCM800 for rock tones. But i will see what happens in the end.
