  • Please suggest me a small SS practice amp

I have started to scale down my gear and for the next while will need just a small decent practice amp. I would like to have something with at least a 10" speaker and it MUST have an FX loop as well.

Very limited budget as well in the +/- $200 range

I think the Line 6 Spider II 30-watt is a good deal at $199 new. It has some cool built-in effects. I believe it has a 12" Celestion. I have the 15-watt version and love it for low-level practice.

Ahh. I see grasshopper - No FX loop on the cube.

I really have liked the Valvestates overall, though the only small one I used was an AVT20 (can't remember if it had a loop). It sounded real good, but really lost it at volume over 50%. If you can find a VS65 or something, you'd probably be happy. The bad thing about the older VS ones is the cheesy buttons. They don't hold up well with heavy use, but if they are cared for, they are great.

I have a Crate GFX-120 that I'm very pleased with. Lots of saturated gain and the cleans are pretty good as well.

It has fantastic built in effects. I wouldn't see a need for one anyway.
