I'm in need of some noise reduction! I'm seriously looking to buy an ISP Decimator prorack G!! I have heard mixed reviews about the ns-2, rocktron hush super c. But I have heard nothing but good things about the Decimator!! The prorack G version of the Decimator seems to be aimed at guitar applications as well!! If any of my fellow jcfer's has tried, or owns/owned one I like to hear your feedback!! Thanks!!

Re: ISP Decimator??
I just a bought pro rack G from Derek B. at rocksolidamps.com. I haven't used the NS2 but I have used the Decimator pedal previously and figured it couldn't get any better...it is.
The pro rack G has two dials to set on the two inputs and then regardless of how much gain or how clean the signal is..there is zero noise and zero tone loss. I have used Hush units in the past and I can tell you compared to the Decimator products and especially the Pro Rack G....the Hush stuff is garbage...a comparison would be a joke.
If you are going to buy one you should check with Derek..I assume I didn't get an extra break as I have purchased gear there previously but his price was considerably less than most advertised.
I really couldn't overstate how awsesome the PRG is! -Michael

Thanks! I have read up on it some, but i'm not sure how i would use it yet?? I plan on running through my effects loop last in the chain of course! My eq gives me most of my noise problems though! I will note that have an 81 in the bridge as well! Would I use the channel 1, or channel 2 of the PRG?? Or how would I run it? I'll also note that most of my noise issues are on my dirty channel!!
Thanks again!! I love admins!

Re: ISP Decimator??
There really is only one way to use it....Channel one is directly from your guitar and channel two is from the effects loop. I run channel two after the preamp and before the signal processors. I believe the setup is similar to the way I understand the NS2 to work. It tracks your original guitar signal from CH 1 to CH 2 so going from total all out distortion to crystal clean doesn't eat any guitar signal.
I could run my Engl E530 with gain and boost on full which is way too much distortion to be usable then switch to crystal clean and both signals sound like pure guitar with absolutely no noise...even stacatto palm mutes.
I know I sound like I work for ISP but the thing is utterly amazing.-Michael

So I'm confused! Physically I plug my guitar directly into channel one of the ISP?? Or physically I plug it in through my chain in the effects loop ?? I love admins!

Re: ISP Decimator??
Another way to look at it would be that channel 1 can be used in high gain applications to stop the feedback associated with a hot pickup running into the amp. Channel 2 would be used for cleaning up hiss from the preamp and other noise in the fx loop.

Re: ISP Decimator??
I use the Decimator pedal in the loop of my 5150 combo.
it's the balls Works exactly as it should.
Highly recommended if you need a noise gate in your loop.If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Yes..you plug your guitar directly into input one.
Input 1. Direct from guitar
Output 1.To Amp/Preamp
Input 2.From amp/preamp FX loop
Output 2.To FX or Fx loop return
The only funny thing is there is no front panel jack for channel one...all connections are made on the rear but this is a minor detail considering the NR quality.
The Decimator pedal works equally well for high gain reduction but will eat some signal when you switch to clean...the difference is the PRG tracks the signal from directly from the guitar through Ch 1 so switching to clean results in ZERO tone loss.-Michael

Re: ISP Decimator??
I have the pedal version and love it!
as far as I understand, the rack version's 2 channels lets you use it both in front of the amp AND in the loop, getting rid of ALL the noise that way.
(I've used the pedal in the loop of my vh140c and it works great there, have yet to try it in front of the deliverance (no loop))

Re: ISP Decimator??
I have used all of those except the ns-2. I would go with the ISP Decimator by far. It can be used to get rid of that internal amp hiss that the High Gainers have and tame down feedback from actice pickups or hum from passives. The pedal version has a faster processor chip in it so it will react a little faster, but the rackmount is the only one with dual imputs so you can run it to make your guitar and amp signal with less noise. You can even send the rackmount version in and have them put in the processor that is in the pedal at no charge except shipping from what I heard.
