Hopefully better than that old Crate!

LOL - that's the idea Ron!

I got that Crate new in 1989, and it has served me well since then, but it's time to move up to what I've always wanted.

of course it still won't be as big and tough as your JCM800, so no worries there.

the AVT series sounds good. way better than the 8100 valvestate series.

Re: baby Marshall

I played the AVT 50 a few years back and was impressed by the bang for the buck value. Good luck.

Like you, I had an older Crate solid state and moved up to a Marshall, albeit tube, a few years back.

I think the AVT series sounds good too. Classic Marshall in a nice small portable maintenance free package.

Re: baby Marshall

I had one exactly like that. They are great sounding amps for the money, very loud, and no need for gain pedals.

Congrats...

Re: baby Marshall

thanks guys, yeah the no-maintentance aspect along with good distortion at lower volumes really sealed the deal for me on this one.

I've never played a closed-back amp before either, that will be interesting.

now I have to jones for a few days while it's shipped.

MD, the AVT is a valvestate, just not the first series they made, I think.

OK amp gurus, what about the AVT50H head??? They are stupid cheap and I've been thinking about getting one. The HC reviews are great, but I'd rather hear it from you guys.

well it got it and it's in great condition, and it sounds amazing. there's nothing small about the sound.
I put it through the paces today for 2 hrs and it is a lot more amp than the one I had. that thick saturated tone is what I've been wanting!
