    I just picked up a triple rectifier that I am trying to tweak but so far its just mud.

    I have read the manual and understand how all the different knobs interact with each other, but I am interested as to what your favorite settings are in the Vintage and Modern modes.
    Damn, I love this Interweb.

    Just turn all the knobs to 10.

    Oops - that's for a Marshall LOL!

    I could never live without the handouts Mesa would give of sample settings back in the old (Mark series) days. Easy to get shit sounds.

      Gain = to taste
      Bass = Dimed
      Mids = Dimed
      Treble = zero
      Presence = zero
      Channel vol = keeping it lower (9 - 11 oclock) gives a tighter sound to my ears.
      Output = to taste
      Voicing = both modern and vintage

      These are what I use on my single, with either EL34 or 6L6 power tubes.

        No sure if I understand what you mean by dimed, is that 10?

        You know the thing that really trips me out on Mesa is how raising a knob can sometimes have an opposite effect. It seems to me that raising the treble past nine usually drops the treble and raises the mids.

                  Re: Share your Mesa Rectifier Settings

                  Rhythm: (Red Channel)

                  Bass 8:00
                  Mid 9:30
                  Treble 2:00
                  Presence 10:30
                  Gain 1:00
                  Volume 10:30

                  Lead: (Orange) (Yellow? I can never remember which they call it.)

                  Bass 9:00
                  Mid 10:30
                  Treble 1:00
                  Presence 12:00
                  Gain 1:30
                  Volume 10:30 (The extra mid makes the channel a bit louder.)

                  Cleans (Green)

                  Uh, I'm still messing with it:

                  Gain 10:30
                  Bass 10:00
                  Mid 11:30
                  Treble 2:00
                  Presence 12:00
                  Volume matching rhythm volume.

                  I found that by changing to the STR440 6L6s and swapping around various Russian preamp tubes, I was able to get a nice midrange focus out of it without getting too much high end shrillness or low end boom.

                    Re: Share your Mesa Rectifier Settings

                    My main distortion setting goes like this:
                    Channel Two (orange), Vintage mode
                    Gain: 1:00
                    Bass: 10-11:00
                    Mid: 10-11:00
                    Treble: 1:00
                    Presence: barely over 12:00
                    Volume about halfway up
                    I can't remember how I set the other two...red channel is a barely distorted sound on Raw, the green one is clean. I put the JJ 12AX7s in the preamp section. Might switch out the power tubes to STR440s or Mesa EL34s sometime too.

                      Here are the metal rhythm settings I'm using right now. I set the loop and output/solo controls on bypass. And I also boost the front end with a Maxon OD808.

                      Ch.2 - modern mode/tube rec/spongy
                      Pres - 9:30
                      Master - 2:00-3:00 (very loud with output controls bypassed)
                      Gain - 12:30
                      Bass - 9:00
                      Mid - 11:00
                      Treb - 1:00

                      Ch.3 - modern mode/tube rec/spongy
                      Pres - 9:00
                      Master - 2:00-3:00
                      Gain - 12:30
                      Bass - 10:00
                      Mid - 12:00
                      Treb - 12:00

                      Maxon OD808
                      Drive - 7:00
                      Tone - 11:00
                      Balance - 1:00

                      I'm using the 440STR's and a mix of tung-sol, EH, and JJ preamp tubes.

                        I disagree with the treble off...I just think that the treble control on the amp is so reactive, and can really change the dynamics of the sound.

                        Then again, if the treble off is your sound, then yeah it works. For me, no good.

                          I was wrong about my Presence...it was more in between 1:00 and 2:00.

                            the treble off lets the treble that is in the midrange shine bright.
