• Eventide or Lexicon/Roland ???

OK so I am going to upgrade my effects because I am using an Ibanez SDE 1000+.

I don't necesarily need to change sounds fast.
I play mostly lead.
I don't use anything fancy - just reverb and delay.
I like to fight with my guitar to get tone using my fingers and picking attack.
I do want top notch sound.
I run a Framus Cobra 100 Watt head into two twin 12" Bag End speakers.

So I am thinking either an Eventide H3000 which might be overkill or a Lexicon PCM 90 with a Roland Digital Delay.

I don't have personal experience with these units.
What do you guys think?

Both of those sound like overkill. Why not save yourself $700 or so and get a Lexicon MPX-1. I have 2 Rocktron Xpressions and the aforemention MPX-1. The Lexicon is SUPERB but, doesn't switch sounds quickly (which you said doesn't matter).

If youre just using reverb and delay, an old original series Rocktron Intellifex can't be beat if you find one used...my old one cost me $90.

I'm using Rocktron Intellifex and TC's G-Major. Both are great units, both sound very good. You can't tell which one is better. Intellifex was bought for 90 dollars, G-Major for 400. Go figure

The G-Major seems like it would be better if you wanted flange, phaser, and other trippy effects like that. The Intellifex is more about time-based effects and a harmonizer, which isn't real bad. But for normal effects don't plan on getting more than delay, reverb, and chorus from the Intellifex. But what you do get is awesome.

Yeah I don't need any phaser or pitch shifter etc...

Just looking for really good reverb and delay - thats it.
I see a lot of guys using the Lexicon PCM 90 and a Roland delay because of the sound quality.

Re: Eventide or Lexicon/Roland ???

The PCM 90 is a killer 'verb, but for live use I don't think you'd hear the difference over an Intellifex or G-Major.

If you want to go all out:

Lexicon PCM-90/91 for verb
TC Electronic 2290 for delay
...that the play is the tragedy, "Man"
