Re: best wah pedal?

I think I remember thumbing thru the instructions for the 535Q at work and it had a "Jerry Cantrell" setting in there, I'd be interested to try out that setting on one. I remember reading an interview with Jerry from around the time Dirt came out and he switched a bunch of his equipment around (tc electronic effects to Rocktron, VHT poweramps to Mosvalve etc) and I think he said he got one of the prototype Hendrix wahs from Dunlop. All this talk has made me want to start using mine again.

yeah Box..it's a five position bandwidth sweep...I didn't even know there is a Cantrell setting in there..that may be the notch after or before the hendrix setting...cool!

I play "different" when I got my wah...I just do..it's a natural thing for me to do that!

I have the Crybaby 95Q, I love it, it sounds great and it is switchless wich is a must for me.

i totally agree that over use of the wah is no good, im more interested in the accenting of bends and shit...and i would be wanting a wah with a pretty wide sweep to get that big wah bend sound, also one that can handle being used with a pretty heavy lead sound...i used to have a dunlop crybaby, but i found that with a higher gain sound it would totally make the sweep range really small....it was a while ago though...i dunno...

Re: best wah pedal?

I use a Vox wah, I don't know if it's good compared to the other models people are mentioning, but it's the only one I've used, and it works for me (though a true bypass mod is a must on these suckers.) The other guitarist in my band thought my wah sounded cool, so she picked one up too. After plugging it in and trying it out for a while, she said "yours seems to WAH more than mine!".... (It was the *exact* same model.)

It's definitely all in how you use it.

Well Thanks John...just sharing a observation is all..

it's not the equipment half of the time..it's the player.

I think!

BTW.. I am one of those sucky wah users.
The only songs I do a decent wah on are Sweet Child of Mine and Man in the Box.
I seem to know everything about wahs except how to use one.

well I'm even more hopeless - I know very little about the wah and rarely use it - seems like all I can ever play is voodoo chile riffs ...poorly

well we are in the same boat then..because I don't usually break it out for normal practice either..and Voodo Chile is exactly how I use it..as does Amott..the VC solo is a PERFECT example how a wah should be used IMO!!

Wow what AE tunes??..yeesh..Amott uses it alot and they play so many tasty solos..I always love the solo to the song Silverwing..but there is too many songs to list with great solos..albums..Burning bridges , Black Earth , Stigmata , Wages of sin (1st one with Angela) are all good choices..their last two are cool "anthems of rebellion / Doomsday device..but the ones I mentioned prior to that are my faves..
