  • Valve Help for Marshall JCM900

I decided last week that it was about time I bought some new valves for my JM900 100W head so ordered some EL34'S which arrived in the wee. I've just read that this head should take 5881 valves. What's the difference? Are the EL34's no good then? I had a JCM800 years ago and remembered that took the 34's and just ordered them.
    Thanks

5881's are closer relatives to 6L6's. You should rebias your outputs if are changing them all over anyways. That being said, I'm not as familiar with 900's but you 'should' be able to rebias your Marshall to el34's operational plate voltage arena w/o issue. Typically 6l6's are pretty interchangable with 6CA7's.

Thanks, I'll have to try and find someone local to have a go for me.
