Need FX - bigger than x-vamp, smaller than XTL

I'm looking for a decent multi-fx. I have a behringer x-vamp, but I would like more than just up/down buttons. I also have a Pod XTL, but it is overkill for some gigs. Is there anything in between the two that is programmable, but has multiple footswitches and is smaller than the XTL? Need decent time based effects and decent rock/hard rock distortion.

The Boss GT6 is less expensive and easier to program than the XTL but it is virtually the exact same size as it.
For what they are selling for now, its a steal. If I have a chance to score that Kitty Hawk Quattro from Pete I might be selling my GT6 with the gig bag to pay for it.
I have always been happy with how the GT6 performs in every situation. Recording, home practice and gigging.

Not sure how big the POD is but I have a Korg AX1500G that has done me proud for rehearsals and gigs.
