Re: Vetta HD update...

Thank for the insight John..yeah they seem to be cool pieces!!

They're only going to get better and better..just like PCs..they are probably going to advance pretty quickly with these modelers..I can forsee in 10 years that this is going to be pretty intense..to the point where Tube amps will be like having a 8 trk, VCR and record players..

Tube amps been around forever, I figure the milked about as much as you can do with that technology..what else can you do with tubes amps that hasn't been done already...some sorta hybrid I'd guess.

John is the HD147 as loud as the Vetta ..do they share the same power section...

Are they going to make a updated and even more powerful version of a HD147...I'd assume yes...any word of that!

If Line 6 came out with an XT Live with the 2-amps-at-once feature, I’d probably buy that, too.

The HD147 is 300watts (150w per side stereo)
The Vetta 2 HD is 200watts (100 per side stereo)

The Vetta 2 HD is so loud that with the master volume at 9:00 (3 on the dial) the cops would come to my house.
I play mine on 1/2 power (it has a 1/2 power mode). This way I can turn the volume up past 1 and I don't have to worry about getting arrested.
I am talking about immense incredible power. We a/b'd it to a Dual Rectifier and the Vetta 2 HD was louder.

Noooo .it's 300 watts also 150 x 2

Q. How powerful is Vetta II?
A. Vetta Combos pack 150 watts into its 2x12” cabinet. This is normally used in stereo (75 watts per speaker), but can also be split to provide 75 watts of one channel to both internal speakers while feeding the other channel’s 75 watts into an external speaker cabinet. Vetta HD heads up the ante to 300 watts (150 watts per channel stereo), and can drive that power into 4, 8, or 16 ohms. This flexibility allows for a wide range of cabinet connections. The power amplifier design in both the Combo and the HD have substantial peak power capability, which provides for lots of headroom and significant transient “blink” factor. In other words, they’re seriously loud.

Re: Vetta HD update...

I COMPLETELY second that. Used to have an HD147, and it is a very cool amp. Also works great with the editing software, but it is nowhere near as loud as the Vetta II. I am almost tempted to say that the Vetta in 1/2 power mode is louder than the HD147. Every once in a while, I accidently hit the full power tab in the software and it about takes your head off.

That is one loud MOFO. But...in 1/2 power, the volume will increase incrementally. In full power, its either dead quiet or it goes right into arena mode...

Thanks for the correction. No wonder this thing is so friggin loud. Its hard to describe how loud a Vetta HD is when its on full power. You almost have to experience it.

Apparently the Vetta is louder. I never cranked an HD147.
The 2 amps at once feature of the Vetta really boosts the presence and "loudness" of the amp.

I gotcha..that's like my 5881 Monobloc in stereo with four 1960B cabs..I add a little chorus and crank it..sounds like "Speak of the Devil"!!!

Re: Vetta HD update...

I love my Vetta II HD. It sits on top of 2 G-Flex cabs that I can spread out if I want the stereo thing on smaller gigs.

The half power feature was one of the best updates line6 has done. Makes it a much easier beast to tame.

Just be remember you gotta tweak it a little and the sound you want is in there !!!

Good point. I must be the only person who can't get a good sound out of Boss gear. I've just had very little luck getting the sounds I want with it.

I hadn't heard anything about the Vetta III before this thread. Guess I'll need to cruise the L6 forums! Any idea of an ETA on those?

Re: Vetta HD update...

I brought my Vetta HD to band rehearsal last night.
It sounded fantastic. I had to do a little on the fly tweaking on some patches and I have a few effect levels I need to adjust but besides that, perfect.
The TRS effects loop patch cable for boost is the single best hidden feature on the Vetta. Seemless adjustable solo boost. 6db seems to be the magic # for solo boost.
Regarding volume.... we were rehearsing LOUD. Really loud!
So loud that my lead singers ears were ringing and he had ear plugs in!
I had my Vetta on full power with the master volume a tiny bit over 3. I had to turn it down. BTW.. my amp model volume levels are only on 5.
That should give you an idea of how loud the Vetta is.
Its crazy loud.

Crazy loud is cool..

that was ALWAY the issue with the solid state stuff. They always sounded obnoxious when pushed to the volume levels I required in a band situation...But that was Randall's ..years ago!

Honestly from what I heard of the the HD147 and Mike Romeo's Vetta live..I can't really knock the stuff..considering I heard great tube amps sounding worse..

Although Romeo wasn't really content with his Vetta..I heard him fine in the mix..and Symphony X just sounded amazing to me live overall...

I think it's only going to get better from here on..well of course it is..I may be buying this stuff myself soon..who knows.

I'm content with my Marshall rack and Uber for now..but I won't rule this stuff out because it's not a "tube" amp..hey if it works for me and I like it...Fuggit.

WE are the one that's playing the shit, and if any amp makes us happy enough to inpire us to play, be it a Marshall, Uber, JMP-1, Recto or Line 6, or a freakin' pignose ect..fuggit!

whatever works for you..whatever makes you play your best..that's a "good" amp!

Yeah, I gotta "boutique" amp..but I'm no snob man..I still LOVE my JMP-1..it still does shit my Uber can't do...and it makes me play and feel good.

NOBODY is going to piss on my parade...even if all I liked was a couple stomps!

I don't personally like Rectos for example, but Jeff Loomis sounded great with his..so, whom I to say a damn thing!
