Hello to everybody!
This week I got my dream amp the 6100 LM anniversary Marshall. I waited it for few months and I was so excited to fire it up for the first time. The amp sounded fuzzy and loose so I checked the tubes. Well surprise surprise, the preamp tubes looked original(over 10 years old) and the power tubes seem to be well passed their prime.
Now to the question. What tubes do you recomend? I can´t afford nos tubes so I´m planning to get JJ ECC83 S/12AX7 preamp tubes and real Svetlana 6L6GC/5881 powertubes(JJ might be an option here too). Is there any sense go for EL34? I kind of like the 5881 sound and want the sound to be tight and warm. Oh yes, I play metal(Carcass, At the gates, Haunted) so I like to have a nice, warm, almost organic distortion sound.
