  • Best wireless system

I've been using an Electar wireless guitar setup for several years and for the money, it did a good job. Its on its way out though.

What wireless system would be the best for the money, $300.00 and under? I'm not worried about range. I'm more worried about clarity.

UHF and true diversity are the only things you need to concern yourself with when getting a new wireless, make sure its got both.

I picked up one of the sunnheiser digials (used) on ebay for about $200. It used it for about 1 year now and has worked flawlessly. I can't remember the model number but it was in production ofr only a couple of year. I think it had the diversity system.

That's one of those knock-off brands, huh?

                Maybe stick with Sennheiser...

Another vote for the Sennheiser Digital 1000, which is no longer made and I *believe* came from the technology that Sennheiser acquired from X-Wire. I LOVE mine - NO tone suckage, at least that I can hear. HIGHLY recommended if you can find one - check ebay. Only negative: 9V batt only lasts a few hours. Even though it's a few years old, I still think it's better than just about anything new on the market.

Sennheiser Digital 1000 or Sennheiser EW172 G2. Both of those units are awesome.

Here is what I have found after investigating and using many types of wireless systems.

If you are a touring pro you need to spend the big bucks.
If you do local gigs in local clubs you don't need to spend more than $200.00 for a VERY decent wireless system.
Samson and Shure both make VERY decent low priced wireless systems.
My ears couldn't tell the difference between a $1000.00 system and a $200.00 system. Heck, I could hardly tell the difference between a $1000.00 system and a $99.00 system. The big differences are ruggedmess and whether there are many other wireless systems on stage and how big the stage is.
Bottom line, you could spend around $100.00 used on Ebay or around $150.00 new at GC and have something that works great.

The thing is that many of us go wireless not because we have a 50' stage to run around on, but rather the opposite. The stage or area to play in is so small its a pain in the ass to use a cable because its always getting tangled up.
Thats why most of us don't need a totally pro wireless that is designed to be used in stadiums.
I did alot of research on this. The 2 things that are the most important are true diversity and UHF is better too. Thats about it.

Sennheiser G2, never had a problem, even at rooms where my other wireless systems have had problems in the past.
                        highly recomended

                          Yeah, after looking at a bunch of models, I decided on this on;
                          http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

I was using the Electar system, which ran me $100.00 at the time and it did well on stage. It was a VHF system, but because of the inputs in the thread, I thought I'd give the UHF system a try. Thanks for all the inputs though. It'll be here tomorrow and I've got a gig Wed night, so I'll give it a go (with a cord backup of course ).

That was my next, but the one's I was looking at, at the time were just a little too far out of the range I was looking at. I'm sure if I wouldv'e waited a little longer, I would've found one, but I'm not a patient man.

Im using the AKG WMS400 package at the moment and its fantasitc, no drop outs, excellent signal clarity, only uses 1 battery (i use rechargables) battery life is a good 5-6 hours.
