I was using the Electar system, which ran me $100.00 at the time and it did well on stage. It was a VHF system, but because of the inputs in the thread, I thought I'd give the UHF system a try. Thanks for all the inputs though. It'll be here tomorrow and I've got a gig Wed night, so I'll give it a go (with a cord backup of course ).
You will be very happy with that one. Post a review after you try it out.
I have an older Shure rack mount unit that was probably around $300.00 back around 10 years ago. It works great with no dropout at all and it doesn't mess with my signal to my ears.
I have had several Electar items. I still have an Electar SM58 clone that works fanstastic. As a matter of fact, every time we gig and I bring it, I get a comment from the sound guy that it sounds good. I even had a sound guy once ask me if I brought it to a gig because he remembered how good it sounded for vocals. I paid around $40.00 for itbrand new including shipping, a nice leather case and a mic clip. If I recall I got it from Musicyo with a discount coupon.

DonF, let us know the country of origin on that AKG. If it's where I think it is, it may last an even shorter time than the MIK Electar...
