    These amps get glowing reviews:

    http://krankamps.com/TotalGuitar_pg1.htm
    http://www.krankamps.com/gworldarticle.htm (Guitar World Platinum Award)
    http://www.krankamps.com/popup-gearboxart.html (Guitar One Award)

Are these reviewers getting kickbacks or something? Never having plugged into a Krank, I have no opinion either way, just commenting.

People have differences in taste and the best thing to trust is your ears or someone that has similar preferences for tone as you. Additionally, if you've read some reviews that the mags put out equipment seems to always get high ratings.

I've played through Kranks, Bogners (Three different XTCs, Uber, Shiva) and tons others too. I just really dig the JSX for what I do, what it does and the fact that I can replace it pretty easily. It's the Chevy of guitar amps.

well, once you've owned some decent gear, maybe then you can comment on the Krank, Pete

I under stand all the hating on Krank for what they did over at Harmony Central and all but I didn't know anything about that until I was already Intrested in Krank. Before that I knew nothing of Krank.
I listened to sound clips of a amp ENGL and alot of guys who own them Rip on Krank alot. Seems to be there favorite thing to do btu whats funny about that is After listening to this guys Engl Screamer or something, It sounded alot like My Krank. There is a certain sound in the gain channel thats different then most other amps I have played. When I heard it for the first time, I was taken by it. It has this Incredible high gain Metal tone that I never knew I wanted. The ENGL has the same Voiceing I guess. Very close.
Like i said before guys, I like my amp for the way it sounds not what it says on the front. Honestly if I had played a Engl before I found Krank, I would own one today. Mesa was high on my list for gain channel but i just couldn't get the cleans I wanted. The Kranks clean is dark but I'm finding ways around that now that I have alot of hours on it. I think it's a combo of my Guitars Hot rails and the darkness of the amp which I'm used to Fender clean so. It's new and exciting so I'm cool with it.

I got a Korg Tone works, A BBE sonic Maximizer, Boss Ce-5 to play around with and It's very fun. Funny I actually like my gain channel with nothing going on. The BBE can be on or off and I like it the same.... Depending on my mood. The drive channel is sick guys, I can't wait to have home recording so I can rip a few tracks for yeah and let you hear it.

            Thanks

            Dan

I'm glad you got the amp you like, after all, that's what matters. Tone (in general) is a very subjective thing, and what sounds good to one may sound like ass to another. The guitar, and the person playing it probably has the largest effect on amp tone, sooooo............what matters most is that YOU make the amp sound good. I think maybe you should have posted some clips in the MP3 section first. Then AFTER all the folks said something like "Wow! killer tone dude, what amp are you using?"..........then you could say "....ummm.....Krank". That would have been cool!

What Mark said. i used to post Vetta clips on this and other boards, and would be amazed by how many negative opinions I had *after* it was revealed I used a modeller.

I think people hate more on the names then the quality of sound. If people could get past that, they would have a larger world of tone to discover. If you can get killer tone out of a Vetta, and people liked it before they knew, funny how it changed after they knew.... I love it

Thats the beauty of so many different amp companies. Your not limited to a few brands. I think the Engl and Kranks sound close, they both have that modern Gain sound. I'm not talking about the cleans, I haven't heard cleans on a Engl yet but the drive/gain channels are close.

well, the engl clean sound is GREAT. my framus cobra does a good clean, but not *quite* as chimey as my old blackmore. just like a mark IV vs. fender twin, the mark has a great clean sound but not *quite* as nice as the fender, know what i'm sayin?
the drive channel's pure crap, tho...*AWESOME* at low volumes, but got real thin and brittle when turned up. but geez, i LOVED the bedroom volume sound....almost kept it for that one alone.

WOW, thats very Intresting. A tube amp at lower volumes sounded better then cranked.. thats new to me. I have always liked all my tube amps cranked, my Krank also likes to be very loud. It get crazy and I gotta turn it back to practice levels.
I know exaclty what your saying about the Fender clean. I don't think any amp has better cleans. Some get close, some get real close but none are better.

At bedroom volumes would work great mic'd. If that is the tone, then thats the tone Bro. I can dig it
