  • Guys the wait is over. She is Here.

    Guys,
It's here. Finally!! I got the call and I ran to the store. The box looked like a 4x12 cabnet box. Huge it was. It said "Krank" on it. I love it!!!!I gave my Fender Twin amp a kiss good buy, told her it was fun while it lasted but I finally my new baby is here.

I played it for a few hours now and I figured I can tell alittle about this amp is a pre-review of it. The clean channel is awesome. Just like it sounded in the store. Clean and very clear. I didn't drive it as I want it to break in properly. As I played the clean channel for a few minutes I thought the Fender was still here. Crystal clear and true to what I was doing without a hint of tube(valve)break up. I love it. Exceeds my expetations already. On to the Drive channel(Krank channel). DUDES take a step back, this amp got balls and then an extra pair just to show off. Damn I laughed at it as it made me tear up a bit. It drove harder and faster then the fender with the Krank pedal. The pedal did a good job holding me over but this is the real deal. Like
margarine and real butter. There is no substitute and thats a true statement.

I got plenty of hours to dial her in and get it tuned up the way I like it. Right out of the box it blew me away.

    I think I'm becoming a KRANK HEAD

    Dan

... so Dan, how long HAVE you worked for Krank? :ROTF:

Forgive the skepticism. I have just not heard any other good reviews on this amp, other than people saying Dime's Kranks sounded good. And he used 5-foot-tall racks of gear, not exactly plug and play. Everybody else who's tried them has found them to be less than spectacular, especially for the price tag. What other amps did you try before deciding on the Krank? Just interested in a few more specifics, since your enthusiasm contradicts the other impressions forum members here have of them.
      Ron is the MAN!!!!

            Congrats man! Enjoy your amp!

So have you compared it to other high gain amps or only to your Fender?

How does it work for downtuned stuff?

And why do I even post these questions although I'm not in the least interested in Kranks?

I would have been the first one to come to his defense, but then I actually tried a Krank. What a piece of garbage it was.

I would think that for metal, any Krank amp would blow away a Fender Twin.
It also sounds like you were using a Krank pedal in front of your amp.

What Krank is it? Were you using a pedal?
                hmm.....

It's cool man, I'm getting used to all the Krank haters and calling me a Krank Employee due to the fact I actually like there amps.I thought I Posted my story in here about how I came across Krank. But I will leave a shorter version.

Well first off I don't work for Krank, as cool as that would be, I don't. I work for Tweeter as a In Home Audio/Video Installer. I live in Bucks County , Pa right outside of Philadelphia.

I found Krank at Sam Ash in Phila Pa. I just returned my Vox Ad120vtx due to it broke in under 2 months, I returned it to get another one but they didn't have one and I had to order it. This would mean I would be ampless until a new one came in. I didn't want that and being a Fender Twin reverb guy, after playing others in the store(execpt the Kranenstien which I looked at and walked right by)I bought a new Fender Twin amp which has a drive channel and upgraded Groove Tubes. I felt the Twin amp sounded better then my old Twin reverb I used to own and got that. The drive channel wasn't as good as I would like it as it was more classic rock then Heavy Metal so I asked about Overdrive/ Distortion pedals. My salesman just got in the new Krank Distortus Maximus pedal and a Tonebone Hot Bristish and felt these 2 would fit my bill. I like Boss and they didn't have the OD-20 in stock which I tried before and like. So I played them both and liked them both. The salesman suggested I took home the Tonebone and play with it for awhile and if I rather the Krank pedal, he would take it back in trade and refund the extra money. So I took home the Tonebone and the Fender Twin. After spending sometime with the Tonebone, I just couldn't get it to sound as good as the Krank, I wanted the Krank pedal. I knew nothing about the company, nothing about Dime Bag Darrel desining he new amp or any of the HC crap those guys did. So back to the Store I went and traded in.

I played the Krank pedal for a few days and couldn't believe how killer this pedal was. I found myself not using the drive channel in the Fender at all. My clean sound was to die for and then the Krank turned on threw the clean channel was amazing. I was happy but I started to feel like I was wasting this amp only using the one channel. I could get some AC/DC tone out of it but thats not my tone. So I started yet again my quest to find an amp with Fender Cleans and Mmesa Boogie Reto Drive.

I played more amps then most to to find my tone. I tried everything everyone had. Peavy, most of the Mesa Boogie amps, Other Fender amps like the Deville, Crate, Line 6, Marshall I wanted to try out but after a deep conversation with my salesman who I respect, told me that Marshall isn't what it used to be and they don't hold together well. They get more Marshalls in service then all other brands combined. He knew I wasn't happy that my Vox broke, if it didn't I would still own it and i would no nothing of Krank.I'm happy now it did.

I went to Kranks website and listened to all there sound clips. WAIT A MINUTE, this thing has the tone I want, it's my dream tone that I heard only in my mind how I would like to sound. The pedal is off the hook so why wouldn't there amps be. The clean channel was in question as all amps have to pass my Fender clean test or I'm not intrested. At Sam Ash they only had the Kranenstien half stack, I wasn't intrested in a stack as I am not in a band, I just got back into playing a few months ago and I play in my basement for myself. But when I heard it go, I was shocked. The drive channel was unbelieveable. It was alittle to powerful Death metal drive for my personal tastes my I still was really liking it. I figured with alot of time setting it up, I could get the tone I was after. I knew what I wanted and I was out to get it. The clean channel was very clean but had a bit of dirt on it. Not like Mesa Boogie dirt, but some nonetheless. I called Krank about it and they told me to play the Revolution 1 as it should be what I'm looking for. Sam Ash would have to order one in and it was special order. I had to buy before I play. I was not cool with that and found other dealers in my area.

In trenton, Nj is Russo music. I shopped there when I was a kid and they had the Revolution 1 head but only a Krankenstien cabnet. So I went there to hear it. I sat down, they had Jackson Soloist SL2H ,I own a SL3 but it was close enough. As soon as I got the tubes warmed up( I also had a Mesa Boogie Rectoverb to compare as I wanted Boogie Drive) I played it. the cleans where much better then the Krankenstien. My Fender clean test is being passed with flying colors. No reverb in this head but I didn't care as the clean was so sweet. I loved it and actually got lost into what I was playing and fotget I was demoing a amp. Once I snapped out of it, I went to the Mesa Boogie. there clean was Dirty like the Kranenstien. I didn't like it at all. No matter which way I put the switch, adjusted the channel, it stayed dirty. The Drive channel was another story as it impressed me there. The Mesa Drive is fantastic and I wished for better cleans. The Krank had Crazy good drive I actually liked it better then the Mesa as it sounded more refined. More to my vision. It had the last word in edge.

I talked to the salesman and he said he would give me a great deal on the head and cab. I wanted a combo and I already had my fender from Sam Ash which I wanted to trade back in once I found the right amp. So I ordered the Revolution 1 combo and I got it yesterday.

The Peavy 5150 combo is also nice. If Krank didn't exsist, I might have got that. They had a nice used one there and i would have had extra money to buy a chorus pedal. But I love my Krank and just want to share that.

I read all the bullcrap about how Krank did in HC and posted all those false reviews. Thats marketing for yeah. I hate marketing in all levels but I don't hate my Krank amp. Most companies do dirty stuff to sell there products. I don't think Krank is any different.

You guys can hate on them all you want , it doesn't change the fact that I found my Tone with the revolution1 . It's perfect for me. I don't care what the neam brand says. It's like buying a pair of jeans, if they have a cool lable on them but they don't fit well, I'd rather have the not so cool brand and they fit great. My amp is a fit great amp and I could take all the Krank marking off and still love it the same.

Being this is a Jackson Forum, I believe most of us are heavy metal players right? Forget all the hype and play a Revolution1 for yourself. You might like it you might hate it.

                    Thanks for the replies guys,

                    Dan

LOL, don't feel so bad, I play a Blue Voodoo, which are ALMOST as hated as Kranks are, and I think it's awesome. We must both have awful taste.

Sounds cool that you found an amp that fits ya. I've never played a Krank, but the bands I've seen use it live sound amazing. In the end it dosen't matter who's name is on it, as long as it kicks ass for ya, so congrats!

Ever wonder if any of the haters on our amps actually played one?

Thats what I'm talking about. I could remove all the emblems and still love it the same. It's all about the sound quality. If I was in it for the name, I would have gotten somthing else like a Marshall or Mesa Boogie. They are both considered way cooler then my amp.
