  • Cheap recording gear

    Hey Guys,

I'm looking for the ability to record a guitar track or two (layer them, or play a rhythm track then a lead over it), then a bass track, then drum tracks, then vocals all one at a time, then mix them all together to form a song? How about if I wanted to do vocals and guitar at the same time, then add the bass & drums later, or do vocals & drums, then add guitar & bass later?

Will a GNX4 or GNX3000 work well for this, then transfer it all to a PC and mix it there? How about those Tascam mixers that have a built in hard drive and CD burner?

I don't understand a lot of the terminology and steps involved to pull something off like this, so any help is appreciated. I know the sound quality won't be awesome, but I'm looking for something decent. Thanks!

I don't know about GNX4, but go to Acoustica.com and check out MixCraft and BeatCraft.

I'm also looking for a recorder that is easy to use and not too expensive. I'm considering the Korg PXR4, have you looked at those?
