  • For Anyone Using A El34 Tubed Amp.

I just got the new JJ KT77. They are a direct replacement for EL34. Just pop them in bias them up and your good to go. Let me just say WOW!! These have got to be some of the best tubes going. Very rich and buttery sounding. I just put them in my Cameron modded jmp. I have always heard subtle tone differences between tubes, but not like these. Its like night and day. If you are after incredible usable bottom end and great highs these are the tubes to check out.
And the price is great for them. They are cheaper than a lot of other standard EL34. Take my advice and check these things out. You wont be sorry. Paul

Yeah, I posted about these on the old board. Been using a KT77 in my THD Univalve head for the past couple months now. It's awesome!!! The low end is great, but it's slightly less aggressive in sound than an EL34.
I really dig the Univalve, too, due to the fact I can pretty much use any two preamp tubes and any power tube since the amp is self-biasing.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Yea, they are great. I dont agree with them bieng less aggressive. The JJ's are aggressive as hell. Maybe it also depends on what type of amp you put them in. I just noticed you live in sayerville. Im not far from you at all. I live in South Plainfield.

do they breakup earlier than EL34s ? and do they sound better on an older type amp like yours or would they sound good also on new amps ?

They break up about the same. They have better bottom end and nicer glasssy highs. They sound good in any year amp. I heard if you have a 2 channel amp they are incredible for the clean tone. My heads are all 1 channel so I dont know first hand. Hey for a $65 investment they are worth trying. If you dont like them ill take them off your hands. Paul

I find the KT77s have a little more headroom and seem to clean up better when backing off the guitar's volume knob.
