what do you guys think of a mixed/matched backline when you play live? i know this may sound stupid, but i have always tried really hard to keep all my gear from the same manufacturer to keep my backline consistent. it has almost always been rivera amps and cabs. occasionally a marshall 4x12 would sneak in there but not too often. now i have a vertical mesa 2x12 coming and i am afraid it is gonna mess up the look of my all rivera backline. am i just being retarded? should it really matter? do i have too much time on my hands if i am actually concerned about this?

BTW - those of you that do gig frequently, what do your live backlines consist of? i am using 2 rivera heads, a 2x10 cab, 2 1x12 cabs, and, until recently, a 4x12 also. it makes for a nice little wall behind me!!!
    GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

    and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Use what ever you like as long as the Ohm's for all match . I use either a Marshall JMP 50 watt 1/2 stack (the bottom is a 69 ) or a Fuchs 100 watt. I haven't used both my marshall cabinets or the 100 watt top in years . For really small places I use either JMP 50 2x12 combo or fender princeton reverb + another small combo in stereo.

yup...your being retarded, unless you have some Rivera exclusive endorsement ot something . Use whatever makes you happy regardless if it matches or not. If I was giging rigth now I'd prbably use 2 1/2 stacks...a Bogner 101B with matching 4x12 and a VHT 50 CL with a matching 4x12

I play all sorts of stuff!! I have a Marshall 1960AV on one side of the stage and Mesa 4x12 on the other. A VHT power amp and a ADA preamp. And I AM endorsed! By VHT... Bottom line, who cares as long as you rock hard and sound good?

we're running a recto cab on one guitar and marshall cab on the other.

If you have an endorsement deal than stick with what you are getting for free. If you are a famous pro and everybody knows you for the the amps you use live.. stay with the same brand and keep your fans happy.
If neither of the above apply... you could possibly be retarded.

                my thoughts exactly.

as of right now, i'm gigging with either my framus cobra or my peavey 5150 head through various cabs, whatever the promoter has brought - we (in fact, none of the bands i know does) never bring our own cabs to shows. most of the time it's the basic marshall 1960A/B setup, which is my favorite sounding cab setup anyways, so i kinda lucked out
other than that, it's just a sd-1, a tu-2, a bunch of cables, footswitch for the amp(s), and 2 guitars. pretty bare bones, but sounds great
