The ADA MP-1 is a "legend" in the world of tube driven preamps (especially for certain types of music). Are there any other brands of rackmount preamps that have similar features and tonal qualities as the good old MP-1?

I don't know about feature and quality similarities, but the Peavey Rockmaster is a mighty fine preamp, with a nice cult following. That thing had more than enough gain to feed my need, and it had separate loops for each channel, as well as a master loop. Got rid of mine, when I got out of the game, for a while. I know Nick Catanese, now in Black Label Society, played one, back then, too, and he loved it, as well.I'm not Ron!

I had an MP1 for a while. For live tone, I didn't like it that much. I wound up putting my Boss GT6 straight into my poweramp instead of using the MP1. For recording though, the MP1 through ADA's MicroCab cab sim is unbeatable. I'll put the guitar tone I got with that setup against ANY real amp/cab combo.

I have one going through the return loop of my JCM900 and it's the best sound I've ever had. Also use a quadraverb GT for delay. Great sound
