  • Someone tell me about the Rocktron Chameleon!

I'm selling a couple of my old Peavey combos locally, and someone offered me a Rocktron Chameleon as possible trade fodder. Harmony Central's review database seems to be down, and the other reviews I've found online weren't very helpful.

I've got the Chameleon online. Had it for about 6 or 7 years as my main processor. I love it. I have compared it to the voodo valve and think the chameleon sounds better. It doesn't take too long to figure out how to program, but it can be difficult to dial in exactly what you want. It works great with the ART X-15. It's been very reliable, never had a problem and I've used it at numerous gigs.

I have a Multivalve processor already, so I'm reasonably familiar with Rocktron's interface. How is the Chameleon's high gain sound? I have another potential buyer offering an ADA MP-1 in trade, but I'm trying to stick with something similar to what I already own.

Well trade value.. I'd say the Chameleons are pretty affordable.. I've seen them in the 150.00 range used. Good effects, SS, no tube.. some guys really like 'em as the response is said to be tighter. You can probably find one at a local store and give it a try too.
