  • Marshall TSL 2000 100 Watt 2x12

Hey dudes, what are these like? I can get a minty one for $750 shipped. Will they do older Speed Metal? How is the price? Thanks-Jack.

The price is great and yes... they can do older speed metal. Don't believe all the negative things you hear about the newer Marshall DSL and TSL.
Let your own ears be the judge. My bandmate plays a DSL100 and it rips big. It has a great clean channel too!

Yes, Jack..go check them out most definitely..

Me and DSL/TSL's don't get along at all..I bought a DSL100 Half stack and couldn't sell it fast enough..I kept the cab tho..

I got it really cheap ..the half stack for $900..I sold the head for $800+ on Ebay..so things worked out.

I don't get along with Rectos either..but alot of players do just fine with both amps..

You gotta go with your own ears on this one IMO..make certain YOU like it before you buy it!!

I can get great tones out of the 2000's. However there contruction is just crap, i have had three of them, and all three ended up with heat issues and cold solder joints. It was tough, i loved the tones i got out of them, but i shouldnt have to treat my amp like a delicate rose so it does not break down.

I got my JMP-1 and i can get all the same tones i got with the 2000's and then more and heavier.

But not a bad price, if you buy it, get a good size fan to blow on the back of it!

I hear ya fellas. My buddies that I played thru, was the TSL 2000 602, ame as above but with 60 watts and his Gibson LP Classic with the 500T in the bridge. The amp was really smokin!! Loud and crunchy and has nice Reverb. The fan is a good idea. do they come with a fan built in? This is a 2002 model bought new in 2003. Thanks-Jack.

No fan built in, and i found it better to get one of those vortex type home fans and just have it blow on all your equiptment. i do this in general on all my amps, keep them cool and they are happy. Those tubes produce alot of heat, that is why you see so many old marshalls with the missing back metal part, because to keep them cool people took them off. But with a fan blowing on it, you dont have that problem since there is little holes in the metal and it does cool it enough.

                    Siggy mentioned the JMP-1..

I still love mine..I still play it all the time, and we get along just fine...yes, it does sound heavier to my ears as well..and smoother and warmer...I guess "browner".

The 2000's gain structure just doesn't feel or sound right to me..I have my usual amp demo riffs..like Ain't talking bout love and other various VH stuff..it MUST give me that stuff perfectly..that's my benchmark..then I go from there to beef it up!

I always gravitate towards that specific tone even tho I play nothing but death/thrash..the 2000s just sound fuzzy..not smooth..to my ears.

My favorite Marshalls are the old JMPs / JCM 800s especially the 2210 and my Marshall 9200 w/5881's and JMP-1..I bought 10 years ago.

Even those 8200 Valvestates and old Marshall Artist sound pretty cool to me at moderate levels. Well, I play pretty loud!

Ya Bill, is there any other way than loud I actually like a little fuzzy sound, I like the Peavey Triple XXX tone, especially the Ultra channel. Does the TSL2000 sound anything like those or even more fuzzy? Jack.

Question, are the combos and heads voiced differently? I know the Peavey Ultras are, the combos are voiced a little warmer. Jack.

The guy selling this amp said he turned it on for 2 hours oof of Standby this morning and he said it was very hot. Is this normal? He is kinda leary of selling ti to someone now. Jack.

I like the Peavey MUCH better...I'd personally for 5150/6505..or try the XXX..

but's that my personal prefence..go out and try 'em both..there is plenty around.

I just like the older Marshalls...that Siggy and I mentioned earlier..

Hell.. Slayer, Reb Beech and so many are doing peachy with their DSL's..so there ya go..

                              Happy Huntin'..
