  • Direct Box question

I think this is the right place for this thread...

Anyways, I am wondering about direct boxes for running a signal direct to the PA during a gig or something.

First off, does running a signal through them affect the tone in any way?

Second, what is a good DI to go with?

I've never noticed any adverse affects to sound quality from using a DI box.
As for what brand... Hughes and Kettner Red Box Classic DI is all I've ever had any experience with.
They make a nice one for about $150. Nice thing to have in your gig bag.

    EDIT:
    Here's one for $119.00
This rugged and versatile guitar DI provides outstanding, direct tone for live or studio applications.

I have the inexpensive but tough red box from Behringer. It's called a GDI or something like that. Has 4X12 cab simulation built in - designed by Wolf Marshall, Udo Dirkenschneider, Claus Meine Schenker Bucholz.. or some arian name like that If anyone has that box too, who is that GUY???

I don't use it anymore. We ran it through our Bose PAS when we first got them. Never sounded big enough. Now I blast a 4X12 on each side of the stage in a full frontal assault on the crowd. No mic'ing or DI.
