  • Framus cabinets

I've got my eye on a Framus 2x12. It's loaded with Celestion V30's (which is what I want) and it's priced pretty dang low! (+- 300 euros).

Now I'd be ordering this from Germany without ever testing it, so I can use all the reviews, thoughts on it, I can get.

Is the low price simply great bang for the buck or does it indicate low quality and craftsmanship (like Chinese import or something). I'd say that's doubtable, considering it's Framus, but hell who knows, do you? please share.

some of the specifics (shamelessly borrowed from HC):

    2X12 guitar cab with 2 Vintage 30's.
100 watt 8 Ohm. 18mm plywood, black tolex covering, 2 side mounted recessed metal handles, metal corners, rubber feet, 1 single jack input.
Removable rear panel allowing for closed or open back cabinet tones
    Dimensions : 76 x 48 x 28cm
    Weight 21 kg
Looks vintage (logo & protection cloth)
Any thoughts on the DRAGON 4x12 too? I love how it's switchable to stereo @ 16ohms, which would be perfect for me, that's basically two 2x12's running in stereo in one little neat 4x12 package.

You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

2x12's and 4x12's sound worlds apart, tonewise.

But yeah, the cabs are actually quite well constructed. I've played through Cobra cabs and a Dragon cab on numerous occaisions, never disliked em!

The stereo on the 4x12 would be really sweet, but a 4x12 in this house and neighbourhood is just out of the question, so I'm going to be sticking with a 2x12, so I'll have to run the stereo 20/20 into a mono cab.

Anyways all help is appreciated here!

DSS3, did the 4x12 Dragon also have a removable back?

Yeah, you just unscrew it, and it gives access to the wiring/speakers, like any other rear-loaded cabinet.
