I said it my first post and I will say it again... one of the X100B's best attributes is its ability to take pedals. The MT2 will get you super heavy scooped death metal but then again.. the MT2 will get you that plugged into your home stereo!!
When you use a Metal Zone the majority of what you hear is the Metal Zone itself and not the amp. Its a very overpowering pedal.
A Tube Screamer is a much better choice with the X100B.

Yeah, definately needs a boost pedal. I use a TS-9 tubescreamer on my X100B. It can get pretty thrashy, IMO. I guess thats up to the player.

I want to try a MXR Distortion + on my Carvin. Thats what Steve Vai used for the "Crossroads" duel scene.

Thanks for the list, JG. I see alot of familiar amps on there. Ones that I was considering: The Carvin MTS, Legacy, Marshall 2210, Laney AOR 50, and the Boogie Mark III. I notice a few I was consireing weren't there, such as the Marshall 2205, 2255, 3203, and Carvin VM100. I'm sure that was just simple oversights, unless you can share a certain opinion about them.
I have to say. My favorite, lately, has been the Bogner Exctasy, but who the hell can afford THAT?! Not me! Shy of scoring a Laney AOR, or older Marshall, used, I may go with one of the Carvins, like the Legacy.

Good to know. I haven't ruled out the X100B. Just looking at all possible options. I AM a sucker for the Laney AOR heads, though.

I will definitely try them I will also try some EH 6CA7`s, they kinda do the same effect, but I never tried KT77`s. Are they kinda like a KT88`s, but EL34 sized?Jack.
Yeah, KT77s are like the size of the EL34, in the same family (same as the 6CA7 which I haven't tried yet), just more low end, maybe slightly less aggressive sounding. I put one in my THD Univalve, and it sounds great. It's kind of a bright amp, but the KT77 tames it down. It's a self-biasing amp, so it's great for swapping in and trying new tubes. I've never used KT88s yet, but I've got a pair of KT66s in my Crate BV60 Blue Voodoo I just picked up off ebay... those tubes are huge, nice low end to them, too!!

I'll address the amps I didn't consider in your list:

2205 ABSOLUTELY needs a pedal... even for Slash type tones
                      2255 ??? never heard one
3203 Good choice. I forgot all about the Artist. The fact that it only has a tone control instead of a bass, treble and midrange will REALLY limit your tone shaping. I liked mine.. but not for EVH type tones.
Carvin VM100 The Carvin Valvemasters are great but the MTS is a much better choice for the tones you want. I threw an integrated quad into an MTS that I got from Eurotubes and it KILLED. That one change made the MTS3200 into a totally versatile head for anything from clean chicken pickin to southern rock to metal.

I would be running a processor through the loop, and using those effects during certain parts of songs, not just during leads, so I don't think that would be an option for me. I DO run a DS-1, up front, but only as a gain boost for solo work. Other than than, and the occassional wah, I'm straight into the fron of the amp, for my clean an dirty.
ART Xtreme - see my previous post, #42 on this thread. Discontinued distortion and multiefx from ART. 3 distortion modes - Xtreme, Scream and Retro. 16 digital efx presets with 2 variations each for 32 efx presets and 3 distortions. Distortion and effects have separate on/off switches. $35 to $70 on Ebay. Xtreme is like a better MT-2, Scream is like a Tube Screamer and Retro is kind of like a Big Muff. Knob controls are Drive, 3-band EQ, freq sweep (300-5khz), output, and effects mix. Works real well with the X100B's clean channel for everything from classic rock to thrash, depending on the mode you use.

2205 wouldn't need a pedal, it's the 2210's 50 watt little brother. Plenty of gain. If you don't mind a single channel super cheap used amp, look into a Peavey VTM 60 or 120. If you look close you can find them for under $200 used... hell of a deal for an all tube amp that's based on a JCM800 with mods (the dip switches on the front)

I need both channels. That's the reason for my choices.

Gain... another typo by me. I was thinking 2203/4!!
The Jubilee is a fantastic choice but its expensive.
The Peavey VTM is another good choice. Similar IMHO in tone to the Ultra.
