I have got the X100B and I really like it. I like the EL34 crunch and I can dial out alot of the mid range. I will get another 6L6 based amp again, and if I do, I think it will be a Peavey Ultra Plus head as my combo 60 was killer, but I only nead the head version. Also, the Reverb is very nice on the X100B. I like to hit the Lead channel with my MT-2 pedal, but will get the Keely version and try it with that one. Jack.
Any chance of you guys posting any soundbytes? How much did you snatch yours up for, Jack? Apparently, you felt you made the right choice, and I am envious, right now.
I don`t know how to record I traded for mine bro, but the going rate keeps going up on these. I remember not too long ago you could get them for about $250-300, now I am seeing them over $400!! These are going up, yet there is a Triple XXX a few months old with a starting bid of $550 and No Bids Jack.
I don`t know if mine is worth more than the $400 one, but it is the only year with Tolex and EL34`s, the next ones were nasty furry stuff-ick!! Forgot to mention the knobs are after market, but he gave me the original knobs also!! Jack.
I love it man!! It can do up to hard rock on it`s own, then add you favorite distortion pedal and whamm-instant metal!! The graphic eq works very well and the reverb is top notch. I love the tone of these and reccomend them to anyone, very versitile. Yes, it is a Transitional model=New Logo/Tolex/EL34`s, they were different before with the script logo and 6L6`s and the latter had the new logo-EL34`s and nasty furry stuff. I can`t wait to try a Keely MT2 with this nice amp, but for now my stock MT2 will have to do. Jack.
Well, Jack, I Was gonna reccomend you check out Carvin's forums, but I can see you've already found a home, there. LOL. Have fun crankin on the X!
Ya man, I have been a member for many years, even on the old boards. I don`t post to much on the newer board, they are really touchy about other brands of late and over moderate to much. Jack.
I don't think that logo is correct. It should have the curved logo but it could be transitional I guess.
So.... how do you like it??
I have a straight X-series 412 straight cab that has the newer logo on the front and handles, but is tolex with the expanded metal grill like on the old Mesa cabs. They were transitional. I also had a VM100 Series I head that had a tolex cabinet, while most are the black Ozite. It also had EL34s but I like my Series II with 6L6s better, so that's the one I kept.

I had a EL34 and a 6L6 X100B. I liked the 6L6's better too. The EL34 version had an unuseable high gain channel when the hot rod boost feature was engaged. It was nothing but unclear fuzz.
The 6L6 model was much tighter. I did think that the MTS3200 was even better than the X100B and the Legacy is better than the MTS for any style of music.
