The true reason all these GW, Rolling stone Polls and top 100 lists suck total balls..because they don't have a clue..they only know what was spoonfed to them via the media..constant rotation..day after day..for decades..

while all the real players were woodshedding and bustin' ass underground..going totally unoticed..but I knew them..I got to know them ..and I'm glad I did..because they kill eveything the mainstream ever had to offer..
VH would have never been popular without good songs, and that is a FACT.

And most of the underground woodshedders can't write a decent tune to save their life.

            • As an old guy myself, I understand the ups and downs of 50 years of breathing on this rock.

Yup- Eddie was in his 20's 28 years ago. And yup- he was and is a GOD.

"GODS" need to be revered and respected for WHAT THEY HAVE DONE, not what they are doing right now.

Right now, there are players out there who MIGHT become Gods, but they have not reached that zenith yet. They are to be watched, not worshiped.

And just for the record, Jimmy Page did not "go away". He's been very active in recent years touring with the Black Crows, producing "How The West Was Won" DVD and CD, and participating in his charities....and I don't know another artist who is still selling an average of 4,000 CD's per week 26 years after the mighty Zeppelin broke up - that's more sales than the Beatles, folks. Now there's a bonafide GOD for you.......

              • 15 YEAR AGO THIS MONTH...

Eddie was on the cover of GFTPM. I can't tell you the contents of the article because it included a poster of him and I musta hung it up in my dorm.

I also found March 95' GP with Ed sporting his short-lived Cmdr. Riker look. In that article (written by Dweezil Zappa) he's sober and drinking Sharps. There's comments hinting to his new maturity in lifestyle & playing. Let's face it guys. This was his DULLEST creative era. When he tried to be someone he's not. He's a Marlboro, Heineken, and hockey stick headstock man.

                  Yes indeed. Well put!

Just makes me want to sing, "America...FUCK YEAH! Coming to save, the motherfucking day!"

                  Rock on.

You, however, have a great job, wife, house, beacoup gear and, I assume, your health. So what's wrong?
Ha. Now that's funny. I'm not unhappy at all. Nor am I bitter. I just saw a bunch of stuff I disagreed with and spoke my mind. That's not bitter, in fact you guys are acting much mo' bitter by sulking because your hero has let you down. You read to much into these Internet forums. I'm sorry you are unhappy but I can't help you there.

You guys are ripping Eddie apart and saying crap like Loomis kicks his ass, he's a loser because he might be an alcoholic (yes, might - unless you have proof you are speculating), he's a retard for smoking after cancer, he sucks because he did bad porno music, half the guitarists on the JCF are better, he dresses like a bum, etc. So as it turns out Eddie is not a god afterall - he's just a human being with vices, limitations, and demons. Imagine that.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

                      • I love you..

all of you, the way a man should love another man..No, not like brokeass mountain..true love ...more like the UCF..

Ummmm..try to look at Ed as if he were your life long bud, bro, or dad ..it's frustrating...I always think ..ahhhh C'mon man...get it togetehr..it's in you..

I thought that about my younger bro..No, it's not in him, I'd like to think so...but truth dictates otherwise..he's a perpetual pud..

I apply this mindset to everything..I'm such a fuggin' pessimist. I'm never disappointed this way..I'm a cynic.

I wished Ed would end on decent note ..even if it's the lack luster calibre of VH III with a better singer like Jorne..that would do IMO..but unlikely..

Everytime Ed came out with something "new", I'd get excited but whenever I heard it ..it's always..."aaawwwwwwwww man"..like VHIII..

The last time Ed rocked my world a tad was Humans Being from the twister soundtrack..the song that made Sammy leave..over vocals/lyrics..

We played the two DLR "reunion" tunes from the best of vol.1...they're OK..and that's already going on 10 years ago..I don't really like those songs much..

I like ..Light up the Sky..

Just sharing my honesty and some frustration c/w Ed..

I'm more concerned with Ed than what equip he's using..does that really matter at this time?

                            • Yeah, Eddie can make some groovy instrumental songs.

I really like Balance, there are some good tunes on that...VHIII wasn't that bad, but it wasn't inspirational either.

I would really like Eddie to return to a more Marshall-like tone. I know the 5150 is a great amp, but I was never really a fan of his tone with that amp, to be honest. Maybe it is too modern sounding for me...and I don't like Ed with a really modern tone...I like the warm Marshall tone with just some ambient 'verb and echo. I think he achieved the ultimate tone with Women and Children First and Fair Warning...although 1984 had some stellar moments.

Well, he is an alcoholic, he's said it himself, and I'm pretty sure I remember reading about him saying that his dad was, also.
And, yes, he had tongue cancer and went right back to smoking. If that's not a retard, then I don't know what is.
