I had a Damage Control Demonizer for a while that was the best high gain tone I've tried in any pedal. Very heavy, but also crisp and detailed.

I tried the new Krank pedal. It sounds like a more articulate MT-2, tuned to Korn, if that is your thing.

I read a review from a buddy of mine on the Krank Distortus Maximus pedal. He swears it's the best he's ever owned.
I had a Metal Zone in my youth. Hinfsight being 20/20, I now know it was too buzzy and thin, but there's hope. Analogman.com has a mod for them that sounds pretty damn good.
If the Line6 Uber = a modded Metal Zone. Go for it!

I haven't heard anything about an Xtreme reissue. I thought ART was out of the guitar processor market for good, and sticking to studio/PA gear.

wow, lot's of boss mt-2 fans. i always hated them. i wouldn't give you a bucket of worm spit for an mt-2.

in fact, i've never heard a so called metal pedal i liked much. although the boss digital metalizer with the built in chorus was just bizarre enough to be kind of cool as an effect (but not a good tone).
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

+1 on the metal zone. They sound ok into a practice amp, but into a real amp I've always been less than happy. A big insult on harmony central for awhile was 'that amp sounds like a metal zone plugged into a TV set'.

What they should do is have the EQ from the metal zone into a pedal that has TS or a little more gain. now THAT would be useful. Even cutting the gain way back on a metal zone yields (IMHO) craptacular results.

So I finally went with the Line 6 Uber Metal... I got an awesome deal on it. Anyway, it really did the trick and sounds pretty much like what I wanted. I suspect one of the Damage Control pedals might give a little better sound, but the Uber is really quite uber.

I have an analogman metal zone but havn't really played around with it yet, although I've had it for months. Will get back soon about as right now it's the only pedal I have right now to pair with my new (to me) JCM800 4010 combo. You think it could make a decent solo boost until the rest of my stuff gets shipped to me?

I like my Metal Zone, but I also recently picked up a MD-2 Mega Distortion. It's a bit smoother than the metal zone, more sustain with a multi-stage gain circuit, and can be used to boost the low end a lot.
