Apple Vs. Line 6 over "POD"?

Just saw a segment on Nightline where Apple is sending out "Cease and Desist" letters to other businesses using the word "Pod" in their products. It is taking the position that its iPODs allow it to own the word "POD".

Line 6 wasn't mentioned, but it seems like it would be a prime target. I'm not up on the iPod thing but weren't the Line 6 PODs around first? Anybody know if Apple has gone after Line 6 and if so, what's the status?

Hmmm... I bought my Pod in 2000...

The iPod was introduced October 23, 2001

Edit: Yep...The original POD was introduced in 1997.
For some reason I was thinking they came later... I must have been thinking of the POD XT.
So it looks like Apple is up shit creek on that argument.
