Plug the line outs on your Vetta into your home computer. Use headphones plugged into the computer.

I think, to me, the true test that the Vetta passed for me, was the fact that, yes, I enjoy my tube amps, and wouldnt sell them for anything, but I actually miss the Vetta fun when I dont have it out on top of the cab.

The two things that make the Vetta SO cool, was the new 2.5 (HUGE improvement) and how much fun the editor software is. If you have your Vetta near your computer, and youre NOT running midi and the software, you are missing half the coolness.

Yep... just dragging stuff around on the computer is cool as heck. Messing around with different loops and cabs and amps, stomp boxes etc... and being able to see them on the computer and just click and drag them around in real time while you are playing is awesome.
I agree also that when my Vetta was at the recording studio I missed it alot.

Line 6 edit is the program. I use a midisport uno for the interface.

Back before "womens lib" we always used to joke about how little a women knew about the car she drive every single day. My wife didn't know how to open the hood of our Caprice and she had been driving it for over 2 years. It seemed that many women (not all... but many) had no interest in learning how the car they drove every day worked. One women came into our shop complaining that her back hurt because of her seating position. She was 2" from the steering wheel. She had been driving the car like that for over a year and had no idea that the seat could be adjusted back.
This litle story describes a majority of Vetta users.
C'mon boys and girls... read the manual, go on the Line 6 website message board. There is also Vettaville and The Institute of Noise.
You are asking questions that are as basic as "how do I stop the heat from coming out of my car vents?"

I love tube amps but I also have a blast playing around with modellers. The are consistent and have all the effects rigth there for use. Its so easy to get a useable tone with little or no headaches

not sure what manual you've got John but my Vetta I combo manual says nothing whatever on Line 6 Edit or hooking to the PC. not a word. and it's not very well written or organized on the other features either. a lot is left to the imagination. maybe the Vetta II manual is better put together.

I'll remember to take my tits and ass to those other sites for Vetta info from now on.

I guess my post didn't come off correctly so I apologize. I learned from going to Vettaville and The Institute of Noise message boards. I didn't really ask too many questions, instead.. I searched for posts that had already asked the questions I needed answers to.
OK, now that I have apologized.. here are the answers.

#1. You need a USB to midi interface. I have a Mark of the Unicorn Fastlane. It was cheap. I got it at Guitar Center for around $30.00.
You also need 2 midi cables. You plug these into the back of the Vetta in the midi in and midi out jacks.
The midi in on the Vetta connects to the midi out on the interface. The midi out on the Vetta connects to the midi in on the interface.
You plug the USB cable from the midi interface to your computer.
Load in the software that came with the interface and make sure its running correctly.
#2. Go to the Line 6 website and download the latest version of Line 6 Monkey.
#3. When you fire up Monkey it will find your Vetta and it will give you a list of available downloads.
You want to download Line 6 edit. This will allow you to fully program the Vetta on your PC. You will see everything and its a drag and drop program with drop down windows. Its simple to use.
You will also want to download version 2.5 software for your Vetta. Make sure you do the complete full install. If you have patches already created on your Vetta back them up using Line 6 Edit before you upgrade to version 2.5.
After you do the Version 2.5 upgrade you will notice that all your patches have a channel switching delay in them. That is because all the patches on the Vetta will need to be saved. Once they are saved there will be no more delay. You can download the addendum to the Vetta owners manual explaining all the new features of version 2.5. It is available on the Line 6 website.
Once you do all this you will be good to go and you will have a ton more complicated questions. You can ask me or you can search for your specific question on both the Vettaville and The Institite of Noise forums or the Line 6 forum. Just about every question you could ever imagine has been answered on these forums. Trust me... I know.
                            I hope this helps.

John G... Diehard Vetta user (and sometime putz)

That was kind of my point. The Vetta has a very high learning curve but once you get the hang of it... its cake. The only knobs I turn on my Vetta are the global volume, bass and treble and the on/off switch.
