Yep. Chuck had cancer, lost all his hair, got better, grew it back, now he's better than ever!

Yep, ADA MP-1 into a Marshall JCM 900 with a quadraverb too.

Skolnik is one of my favorite soloists. Chops from Hell, but his creativity was/is even more impressive! Right up there with the best ever, imo.
          AWESOME!!!!

          Thanks!!

I also gotta give props to Testament, they are IMO the ultimate in Bay Area Thrash. Chuck's vox > Hetfield's Skolnick > Hammett
Plus, you could always hear a good bass line, which of course was a Tallica problem in the late 80s.

Interesting that both Skolnick and Hammett studied under Satriani...IMO one can hear those influences in Kirk's work to any effect only in certain areas of RTL & MoP.

              Trivia -

Who was the other cool 90's Bay Area player who studied under Satriani who Joe called his most talented pupil?

That would be Mr. Steve Vai.

Vai's not a Bay area player, though, is he? He grew up in Long Island with Satriani.

I am not a fan of the Marshall models by themselves on the Vetta 2.5 except for the JCM2000. I usually mix my Marshalls with other amps.
The new Soldano X88R on software version 2.5 is outstanding. Although the Vetta has tons of amp models and features I am pretty happy with the patches I have created. Most of mine involve the Uber in one way or another. Its probably the best high gain metal model in the Vetta. Alone.. its too in your face but it blends beautiful with other amps. Try blending Marshalls and Mesas. They occupy different frequencies and they sound extremely full together. Use them with the double tracker with the timing a little off and it makes them even bigger.
I could post VOLUMES about all the tricks you can accomplish with the Vetta. Its an amazing piece of technology in the right hands.

You've already given me some great advice. I gravitated toward the Uber after trying absolutely everything out. I agree about the Powerball. The fact that the Vetta is loaded with Marshalls without really any of them standing out is a downer. Still, I get by with some of the Miss Criminal sounds (5150), the Soldano and I also use the Matchless 30 to get some Alternative Punk Hardcore sounds.

I hadn't given the Diezel models a chance though until you mentioned it, and now I'm hooked.
                              Thanks
