Thanks for mentioning Geoff Tyson, I actually hadn't heard anything by him or T-Ride before checking out some videos at youtube and checking out his website. If Satriani called him his most talented student I can understand that. Geoff definitely doesn't play just to show off how fast he can shred if he wants to, this guy has tons of feel!
It sure is weird at times but this guy can play

He's got a website up and running by the way: www.geofftyson.com

        Thanks guys

That album kills. Wasn't a big fan of Demonic. Not surprising the line up for that album didn't last. But what the fuck guys? It's been 7 years and no album of new material? Wonder if James Murphy will get back in the Testament fold now that Steve Smyth is with Nevermore, although I heard they're thinking of recording the next album with the classic lineup, which would be great.

eric peterson said in a recent interview that he's sending a lot of his riffs and song demos to alex to spice it up like they did in the old days, as well as writing whole songs for a possible 2007 release with the classic lineup.

as for the gathering, it definitely is a killer album. i especially enjoy the drum sounds and the vocals - perfect blend of aggression and melody imho, except for the all out death metal parts however, i don't like the guitar sound (way too muddy imho), the extreme shortage of guitar leads - plus most of the solos that made it onto the record suck, eric should stick to playing rhythm and let james handle the guitar leads, he's awesome - and to me, the 3rd and 7th songs are boring as fuck.

Excellent! He took my advice then!

(I was at a MetalHealth* party a couple years ago when Eric called the house and talked to a few people. When word went around that it was Eric, I drunkenly yelled out "Skolnick Rules!!" What an ass I was! )

Testament will record a final album, do a world tour and call it quits.

                    Yeah, just like I said.

Except who's this Geoff guy? On the album it's spelled Jeff.

Chuck Billy is the best death metal singer ever! Even though Testament are not really a death metal band, Chuck can sing any style well.

the best Testament song IMO is Return To Serenity because of the kick ass solo and melodic chord progression

Despite The Ritual album perhaps being not as heavy riff-wise as other Testament outings I have to agree wth you that the solos on that album absolutely kick ass, very very melodic, lots of moods and various feelings going on, not just anger..
I always think it's fun to listen to the earliest Testament albums, then put on the Ritual and hear how Skolnick had progressed as a player in just a few years time. It's impressive!
