How to get a Testament-ish sound out of the Vetta?
How to get a Testament-ish sound out of the Vetta?
Alright, Ive got no idea where to start. One thing Im not good at is dialing in tone close to other ones. Any ideas what to select to get a good baseline?
Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...

Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
I know the Uber and Deity. I think you mentioned you liked to Soldano once before.
Powerball?
What about the Marshall models?
The Powerball has too much gain. Its almost unusable.
I am not a fan of the Marshall models by themselves on the Vetta 2.5 except for the JCM2000. I usually mix my Marshalls with other amps.
The new Soldano X88R on software version 2.5 is outstanding. Although the Vetta has tons of amp models and features I am pretty happy with the patches I have created. Most of mine involve the Uber in one way or another. Its probably the best high gain metal model in the Vetta. Alone.. its too in your face but it blends beautiful with other amps. Try blending Marshalls and Mesas. They occupy different frequencies and they sound extremely full together. Use them with the double tracker with the timing a little off and it makes them even bigger.
I could post VOLUMES about all the tricks you can accomplish with the Vetta. Its an amazing piece of technology in the right hands.
I think if you really wanna capture Alex Skolnick's sound you should get an ADA MP-1 pre-amp, he used that a lot back in the days.. But I think you should be able to get pretty close with the Vetta though
