Does this exist?

Hey there,
I have this occasional situation where I'll be jamming, and it sounds really cool--whatever it is I'm playing--and then if I try to stop, go back, and play it again, I can't recreate exactly what I was doing before. Is there some type of recording device that would notate what I'm playing while I play? Not really just a tape recorder, but something that would also put notes on a staff to show me what I was doing.

i think a complex Midi setup would track onto a PC but i dont think itd work that well?

I don't know of any particular product that does that, but it doesn't seem like it would be _that_ difficult to design using midi... I bet there's something out there now that does it.

no idea how well it works (from doing some reading it sounds like it doesn't work very well for polyphonic stuff, but works pretty well for single note stuff); looks like there's a free demo version (http://www.intelliscore.net/demo.html ). probably not the only software out there that could do it, either I would guess
