Vetta emergency!! What in the world???

Hey Vetta owners,

Quick question and sorry for the hijack

If I got the first version of the Vetta(the silver one) that is upgraded to the 2.5 software, will it be able to do everything that the newer Vetta 2 does like combining 2 amps at once to make your own custom amp, etc etc???

Why is it that whenever there is a problem with a modeler, all the tube guys come running in and talking smack about how complex it is, how bad it sounds, tubes are so superior, blah blah blah. But, when something fizzles out, sounds like shit, tube blows, you never hear a peep from a vetta/pod/gnx/etc.. guy.

BTW, Ron, That was the most open thing that you have ever said in regards to checking it out in LA area. Make sure he shows you the computer interface (Line 6 Edit) It is a badass utility.

I'm sure more than a few of you have visited the Vinnie Moore website at some point. Shred Head at the VM forum is probably the most anti-modeler dude I've ever seen.. His display picture is a POD inside a "forbidden-sign" (if you know what I mean)
The ONLY thing in the world good enough for him seems to be a Marshall

Sorry for going off-topic and all, and I mean no disrespect to Shred Head, but it's kinda cool how extremely loyal he is to his Marshalls

I know a few people that have one. One guy is sitting right next to me who has been playing for 30+ years and he dumped all his gear for (MP-1+Rack, Marshall JCM800, MarkII) for one. The guy gets some awesome tone out of that thing =). The way that he puts it is that it is hard to verbalize the difference between the Vetta and Stock tube amps. It is definately not for everyone but, it was something that was definately for him. It is loud as fuck, very flexable and the tone is just amazing for what you have to lug around.

And I know SOME of you are just busting balls.

YES.

that is exactly what I got, used, off eBay. once the first generation Vetta is upgraded to 2.5, there is very little difference other than cosmetically btwn it and the Vetta II. there is NO difference in software, tonally or with the two amp patches, etc. you get all of that. and you save a ton of $$ that way too.

to me, the upgradability is the key feature of this product.

the only things that the Vetta II has that the upgraded Vetta does not, is some kind of digital sound interface card (someone more knowledgable can correct me here, or clarify) and a Variax guitar input. both of those items can be purchased and installed if you want. I don't need either one of those things so it's no problem at all for me.

I actually like the looks of the newer one, but the older one is perfectly fine by me, and I like that it has that red/silver grille cloth that gives it somewhat of a vintage combo look. or there's always the head version which has no grille cloth...

It does sort of. You have to buy a MIDI to USB connector. Mine was $40 at MF.

It's not all that complex. Try it, it's easy as pie. I don't want to throw Bryan under the bus or anyone that has had trouble with their Vetta, but he did say he plugged the Input Out Midi cable into the Input In slot, and vice versa. There are only 2 slots for these cables on the Vetta, so the only way to get it wrong is to plug them in without reading the words In or Out on the cable.

that was with the Yamaha product. forget that, because the UNO is the opposite.

with the Midisport UNO, the midi out cable goes to the midi out jack on the amp, and vice versa. makes much more sense.
