  • PC midi interface

Is there a performance difference between using a usb to midi converter or a soundcard midi/game port to midi cable. Will either of these interfaces work just as well to controll and/or upgrade a v-amp pro or a flextone2, etc. I can just go out and get the usb to midi interface or I can use my soundblaster Live 5.1 card and a cable. Is one better than the other? I'm new to all this stuff. Another question. The midi interface is just used to control the device and not to actually carry the output from the unit to the computer for recording, right? That would be handled by another cable going into the soundcards input, no? I still have a lot of research to do but I just wanted to get an idea of the basic hookups I needed. Basically I want to hook up a v-amp pro to my computer, control it by computer, and record directly from it into the computer. Simple?, Doable?

Either will be fine for basic MIDI stuff. If you start having multiple devices hooked up to the computer, it is best to have a multi-input MIDI adapter. Connecting too many MIDI devices via MIDI Thru can cause timing problems.

This is true even with no PC involved - in that case you need a MIDI Thru box or router (like a Yamaha MJC8).
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
