  • JCF-approved guitar wireless

Please chime in with your recomendation for guitar wireless units. I have the Audio Technica 1400 series rack unit (http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wl...ac4/index.html) and it demishes my sound by a perceptable amount. Just 8-10%, but I can't tolerate *any* color to my tone. Any cord-equivalent choices out there? I don't regard price as any problem.

    Gear:
Jackson through Mesa DR + 4X12. Korg tuner, BBE, and TC G-Force.
    Area:
Usually medium-sized venues. (100-300 drunks) A distance of 60 feet (to the bathroom...heh!) is fine.

    "F" cords! (F chords)

    Many thanks!

Man there have been many threads on this...if $$ is no object I'd go with a Sennheiser.

Here's my quote from the other thread...

I still stand by it.. I have an EW172 G2 and it is a great wireless unit. My bandmate has an Audio Technica rackmounted unit that was much cheaper... Randomly cuts out during gigs and it changes his tone just enough to be noticable. Plus the range is nowhere near as good.

I would recommend the Sennheiser G2 unit to anyone.
I've never had a problem with drop outs or interference, never mind that I haven't even had to change the channel since I bought it.
My lead gtr and bassist also picked up the unit after checking out mine, so for about a year now the three of us have been using it at the same time every gig with no problems.
Plus it uses AA batteries with last longer than 9Vs.

That's a big reason why I'm saving up for the Sennhieser In Ears, I had the Shure, but I was draining a 9v per gig.

i use the sennheiser ew172. they have a webpage that will tell you what frequencies each state's major TV stations broadcast on so you can set your wireless accordingly to avoid issues.

I use a $349 AKG - can't remember the model offhand. Never had a dropout, works great. If you run a pedalboard, a good idea with a wireless is to mount your receiver underneath the pedalboard, then to your 'front of amp' fx, then run a cord from there to the amp. A few pedals after the wireless before the amp seems to buffer the tone and minimize the loss from the wireless. It does for me anyways.
