Power amp watt distribution to speakers

Okay everyone,
My friend is arguing with me about this and I was hoping to clarify the situation with you all. Say a power amp is running 100 watts. You connect one speaker cabinet, and it's putting out 100 watts into that cab. If you connect two speakers to the power amp, it doesn't run 100 watts of power to each cabinet separately, the 100 watts of power is distributed over 8 speakers in two cabs instead of 4 speakers in one cab, so each speaker handles less wattage total, correct? So in a sense, each cab is delivered 50 watts instead of 100.

Is this correct?

If the cabinets are the same impedance, the answer is yes, about 12.5 watts per speaker, into 8 speakers. It gets more complicated with different impedance speaker loads (like an 8 ohm cabinet and a 16 ohm cabinet).
