  • Intersting OD Pedal Manufactuer

Some of you guys may want to check this out.

    effectspedalboutique.com

The TS9 and TS808 are some of the most popular OD pedals from the past. Some guys have taken and modified those models and have come out with spectacular OD pedals - like Keely, John Landgraff, etc...

Landgraff OD is known as the Holy Grail of all of the OD pedals. He took a TS808 circuit and modified it by adding diodes and changing some of the parameter values and using all top notch parts. One of these pedals will run you $400. They are as good as it gets.

I was reading on Diystompboxes.com that these mods are not complicated. But they are hard to do on a current production TS model so its easier to build from scratch.

The above manufactuer makes a similar mod for $85 per pedal. This guy makes a custom mod for the guy in Marshall Tucker called the Swanlund mod - which is like a screaming Marshall amp on 11.

So I ordered a double pedal - one side with the same mod that Landgraff pedal has and the other side with the Swanlund mod - all for $170.00

Totally hand built. He also will taylor the mids to your liking or put a Fat Boost switch on the pedal for you (I am getting a fat boost on each side).
AND each side will have a switch that changes the clipping from symmetrical to asymmetrical (one is smoother, the other you get more fuzz at the top).
AND he includes extra chips that you can plug in and switch around for different sounds!

He also makes a Distortion Box for the Brown Sound - EVH. But he told me it does not cut through the mix as well as the Swanlund mod. And I will be able to combine the Landgraff mod with the Swanlund mod to get over the top overdrive if needed.

Sounds like a MIDI preamp! Interesting post when you get it and let us know how it is. How much did it run you the way you ordered it?

Look around on the net, you can find all the info above and mod your own pedals. Putting a diode clipping switch in a pedal (for asymetrical vs symmetrical clipping) Will cost you about $4, most of that is the price of the switch.

Its 2 pedals in one. Each side has it own separate controls and foot switch. Second side is the high gainer. $170 which I thought was great for a botique hand built pedal compared to other brands.

He did my TS7. I got the pedal + mods from him on eBay for $27 - Pete, I'm fairly certain I couldn't beat that, even doing it myself.
Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.

How many people actually know how to do that or would do it even with what you can find on the net.

Not many - otherwise why are there so many pedals being sold. Why are people buying the Klon, Pete Cornish or Landgraff stuff at $400 to $600 a pedal?

You could say the same thing about guitars - why is not everybody buying their own bodies and necks and just making their own.

I don't think this is very realistic.
