  • Marshall Valvestate 8008?

Just saw an add (not here at the jcf btw) about someone selling a Marshall Valvestate 8008.. It's so cheap I might actually be able to afford it
I need a poweramp real quick, cause I've sold my current amp to afford gear for my (by now infamous) rack.. It's 2x80 watts, doesn't seem too bad.. I've noticed many people are getting rid of their 8008's at the classifieds and e-bay because they're looking to buy something more expensive and better, like Mesa Boogie, VHT etc.. I'm sure those are GREAT poweramps, but there's no way I can afford any of those in quite some time, I have to start some place..
So I was wondering; is the Marshall Valvestate 8008 an ok place to start for a guy who's never had a rack system before? The plan is to use it to run two 2x12 (or possibly 2x10; I haven't really decided yet) cabs.

    Thanks for your input fellas

I used one for a couple of years - still have some paperwork scanned on it, I think, if you want me to email that to you.

I dug it. Sucker got loud, and I liked the valvestate on/off switch (not what it was called, but I don't remember). Stereo was cool, too.

If any of that helps any.

Keith; that does help, cause you made me realize it's ok to actually like this amp for what it's worth Thanks man! I'll mail the seller tonight.

Hey, it worked for Chuck Schuldiner, so why not? (well, he had an 8100/8200)
