I wonder which is the difference between Spider II and III?!
New algorithms or just lame artist patches?!
Anyway, if the Spider III sounds as good as Spider II than it's a good bang for the buck. Keep in mind that I've heard people saying that the sound get worse and shrilly at high volume...

You get what you pay for, maybe you get alittle more then you pay for in this case. I don't have playing out or owning one experience but I have played alot of them and find they make really cool fun practice amps. They are solid state and I agree witht the louder you play them the worse they sound. This is the II I'm talking about.

When I was shopping for a amp that modeled, I tried out all the Line 6 amps and then came across the Vox Valvetronix amps. In my opnion the Vox's sounded more real or natural. They also carried true at high volumes. But the downside is they cost alittle more. It will depend on if you look into the VT series or what I owned is the VTX series. I had the VTX120 .

Personally I like Line 6. I think they make some really cool effects. I also think there amps are not as good as if you had a tube amp and there effects. Buying a podxt live and a fender twin sound way better then every amp they make. The Vetta's are nice and very flexible but don't retain Fenders sound quality when playing clean.

It's all a matter of money and personal taste. Those Spider amps are very cool. I'd like to go play a III, see if they Improved the clean sound quality.

I'm a big Line 6 fan as well, but I have found the Spider series to go from being a pretty good amp at bedroom levels to somewhat craptacular at gig levels. When I saw they came out with a head, I was hopeful, but it sounds like they still don't quite "deal the goods".

With that said, I'd probably just do a combo and save the money.

The Vox amps are pretty cool too, but I haven't heard anything good about them on the subject of reliability. I've played a lot of them though, and they are a god sounding amp - I would agree they sound more natural than the Line 6, but they don't have the models Line 6 has. I think Line 6 sounds a bit more true to the real amp as well. Each has their own thing going though.

Sure the Vettas do. If you know how to dial one in, you can get the loudest clean fender tone you've ever heard, up to the point where your speakers start crying. I've noticed that the HD147s and Vettas sound better when they are louder...

The Spiders are practice/low price amps. Comparing one of those with a fender twin is about as fair as comparing a Marshall Handwired plexi stack and a Peavey Bandit combo.

I saw the spider III at guitar center and just wondered more about the useable tones. This will be a thru the headphones amp a non gigging amp.I guess I'll go give it a run thru and see.I have a behringer 1200 gmx head and cranked up it honks pretty good Ive gigged it some at it hangs in respectivly doesn't fizzle out or get farty.Cheap but not bad.

i currently own a spider 2 112... and it can sound good in high volumes once you tweak the EQ

i heard the spider III doesnt sound as warm as the II ...... i wouldnt buy it, i dont care about my band presets i want my own unique sound
If the crowd is shouting for an encore, but the sound guy is shaking his head, ignore him and play anyway
