Yeah right now there is kind of a back lash on mesa gear, the up and coming bands are going back to marshalls or some other brand. they are also staying away from the over sized cabs but the traditionals are doing ok. I know alot of bands that are using Marshall heads and Mesa Cabs just because new marshall cabs are crap compared to the mesa's.

Cabinets are like piano's and PA equipment. When somebody wants to get rid of them they go CHEAP.

I couldn't sell my traditional Mesa 4x12 for $500 a few months ago. I ended up taking $450 for it. I think thats what I paid from a member here for it over a year ago.

I've been using two Genz Benz G flex cabs with my rack. Damn those cabs sound good.

So we have determined that in CT mesa cabs have a crappy resale value! I wish that would happen around here.

I got lucky and picked up my straight traditional for $475 almost 2 years ago. That thing was mint!

I haven't seen a MESA cab go around here ever for 450. I'd be so on that price in a heartbeat as I'm wanting a pair.

Mostly they are 550-650 or so for nice ones...

Weeeeell, not 10,000 sq ft, more like 3, the thing is, it has ended up with my classic Jag in there too!

To the OP, remember the first rule of buying kit, let the seller venture the sort of price he is looking for. It may be waaaaay lower than you think, he might be desperate to get shot of it, not having got a warehouse himself. Don't wade in and offer him what the going rate is for such kit - the idea is to get a bargain, and not have to steal your kid's lunch-money to pay for it, right?
Well, then you offer him half that, preceding it with the phrase "Listen mate, I'm not trying to insult you, but TO ME, it is worth......"

Something is "worth" only what someone else is prepared to pay for it, and for lots of kit, it's a buyer's market out there.
Go grab a bargain, then come back and brag!

I was shocked I couldn't get $500 for it. You can see on eBay that they go for much more. I probably could have gotten more if I went to eBay, but shipping a cab isn't something I wanted to do.

Even the older half back cabs are getting almost $500.

I know what you mean, i put them up on ebay with local pickup only and get more money that way. You probaly could have gotten $550 with local pickup, might have took 2 or 3 listings, but it does happen. I sold my traditional slant for $550 a year ago on ebay with local pickup to some kid, took me two listings before it sold. Most of the times people will want to come try it out before they hit the BIN, so i just end the auction after the person pays so i dont get hit with ebay fee's.

If you are trying to sell via craigslist, well then that is a waste, craigslist is great for buyers, sucks for sellers, everyone there wants super great deals, if they are not getting it 30% below market value then they will not buy it.

I paid $475 for a Vintage-30 loaded Mesa rectifier 4x12 slant cab with dark green tolex a couple months back. It was scuffed up some but otherwise in great working order. It didn't include the amp cover though. Definitely sounds fuller than my mesa rectifier upright 2x12, but it is MUCH heavier. I thought that was a great deal -- usually they go for a lot more around here.

You know i have been finding out, unless it is snow white, or red, the custom colors do not really do much to the value of a amp or cab. I had a cream 2x12 recto cab, got less for it then any black one i have ever had.

Could be... and honestly, from a distance, the dark green pretty much looks black!

I paid around $300 a few years ago for a local pickup. The kid just wanted to get rid of it without shipping. That helps keep the price down.

However, I also understand that Mesa has raised prices, so maybe sellers want more of a return, but there always seems to be used ones floating around. The trick is to store stuff I think sometimes - I have an old Mesa cab that I keep in my parents basement for 12 years. I am glad I did as now I only had to purchase one,not two.

Damn you got a deal, Lowest i got was, i just purchased a rectoverb series II in blue suede with matching traditional straight front, I paid 1275 for both and it was local pickup, and both are in great condition. I turned around and sold the head on Ebay for $860 plus I will make an extra ten on shipping because i did a flat rate of $35 and it will only cost me $24. Anyway by the time the smoke clears with ebay/pay pal fees, I will have paid $460 for a blue suede tradtional straight that sounds awesome and looks brand new with cover.
