tell me about framus 212 cabs!

the framus 212CS to be more precise....should be loaded with v30 speakers.

the thing is, i'm shopping for a 212 cab, and i've been looking around for used 1936 marshall cabs. now, the 1936 goes for around 300 euro used (444 new), whereas the framus retails at 280 euro NEW?

is it a bad cabinet by any means, or is it just a killer deal?

Try the harmony central board. Lots of Framus owners over there.

I have a Cobra but I am running it through Bag End speakers - which are absolutely killer but apparently unusual - not too many people own them.

ok, bought it....i figured that for 290 euro shipped you cant really go wrong...i mean, it`s a framus, and it`s loaded with v30 speakers.

ok, got it yesterday. expect a full in depth review once it's properly broken in.
as of right now, it kicks unbelievable amounts of ass. seems to be a real bargain. now, i can't tell yet how it holds up in terms of reliability, but let me just say this:
so far i've only used it with my old trusty 5150 (which sounds like crap (sorry to all the 5150 owners) when put up against my framus cobra), and i swear the 5150 has NEVER EVER sounded better. almost on par with my cobra, really. maybe it's the v30 speakers coupled with the tighter, less bassy voicing of a 212 cab, but it really cleans up a lot of the muddy bottom end frequencies that always bothered me when playing the 5150 next to the cobra.
it sounds scooped and midrangey at the same time, very strange...there's definitely a huge high midrange boost going on - i can totally see why the v30 speakers are very popular with e.g. mesa boogie rectifiers.

ah yeah, it's also pretty lightweight, and surprisingly small when compared to the 412 laney cab i'm using with the framus.

all in all, for 290 euro shipped you can't really go wrong, and so far it has surpassed my expectations BY FAR. it still got some nasty high end fizz going on, but maybe thats either due to the low bias of the 5150 or the fact that it's a new cab which isn't yet properly broken in.
as of right now, i'm seriously considering to change over from a single 412 to 2 212 cabs for live use. any thoughts on that?

Seriously, the only reason that kept me away from buying one of those 212 cab is dimension. Is it really small? I'm more concerned about its width.

well, i'd say it's slightly higher than half a straight 412 cab, otherwise it appears to have the same dimensions.
looks rather small, though.

one negative thing about the 212 cabs is the fact that it's basically only deafening your feet , in other words it doesn't have the sonic spread of a full blown 412 cab.
HOWEVER, i'm positive that 2 212 cabs put on each other creates *more* sound pressure than a single 212, just alone because of the added wood.
