  • Using a Line 6 Live . .. .

I have been having some issues with my rack system and I think I am getting lazy as I get older. Anyway, I use a Mesa rack system that sounds absolutely killer, but ever time I move it, it seems to be tempermental when I set it back up to gig (something comers loose - midi or regular cable, and it is sometimes to pain to correct).

I have a 50 watt Line 6 at home which sounds great, but it does not have the juice (the other guitarist uses a Mashall head, its loud and my mesa keeps up with it no problem, but not the 50 wt Line 6).

I am looking at a 200 wt Line 6 Head. I like the way it sounds by itself and I am specifically looking for something which is plug an play (I do not do pedal boards).

My concern is the last time I played with someone uses a Line 6 head, I seem to think that it just did not cut through the mix live with a full band - just something dead about the sound, especially campared to my mesa. Am I crazy, what do people think? Before I drop the money on something that I may have to keep, I wanted to get some opinions.

Look into the vetta if you are looking for a good Line6 live amp.

exactly, get the Vetta if you want a Line 6 head. that's their flagship amp.

I have one and it cuts through the mix like nobody's business. great great amp. loud as fuck and lots of headroom. not to mention all the amazing tones you can get out of it.

I just played a gig two wknds ago with my Vetta combo and it was fantastic.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

          Thanks for the input.

OK, so what sets it apart from the regular old HD. Did they really change the programing/circuit/power amp etc.??? More wattage??

I once did an impromptu gig with a band I used to be in... to cut a long story short I ended up using a Line 6 Duoverb head thru a matching cab, and that thing sounded pretty good! I tinkered around with a bit, and I think it ended up emulating a SLO and a Budda at the same time... some sort of channel merging feature... great cut and chunk. Anyway, I came off sounding good. The Duoverb is a no-frills model, though... no effects.

i always hear great things about the vetta. i used a flextone HD II for awhile. i loved it for recording, HATED it for live work. it sound like iwas playing my guitar parts from a CD!!! to me it was too polished sounding. it didn't have the oomph that playing a real amp has.....hard to explain. since technology has come along since those amps were new, i would look at the vetta.
              GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

              and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Do a Vetta search in this section. There is probably 20 long threads answering every question you could ever have regarding the Vetta.
You could also go to to forums online..

Me and my other guitarist have almost the exact same set up including cab, except I run my PODxtlive into a 120 watt tube power section and even though we use the same patch and all...my tone is far less harsh...It makes a huge differance when using a valve Vs a SS power section. I test that theory every Wed night and live too. As a matter of fact if we can't mic an amp it's always me they don't mic up. If we have to turn up at practice due to the drummer hitting extra hard, everyone (Except Steve) starts looking at Steves amp and cringing. lol Sorry Steve...You know I still love ya lol
