I don't know that it is moderately priced but the THD hot plate is the best for the buck IMO.

They are good to tame a loud amp to get the tone with a live band in a smaller room or in your jam space. They don't sound good at conversational levels. The Weber MASS: http://www.tedweber.com/atten.htm .

I dig the name, "Mega Dump". It reminds me of bogarting an 1/8" and going down to Taco Hell, holding the staff hostage while I make them serve me while sitting on the toilet.
