  • Bought a boutique amp today - pics and clip!

Not a metal monster at all... but check out the pics! damn thing is the size of an MXR phase 90 and all tube

BTW, even a 1/2 watt all tube amp is loud... I had neighbors pissed at me. Ran my Weber MASS at about 7 and cranked it. Also used my 'red llama' clone that I built for some of the fuzzier parts.

I had read mixed review about these.. especialy given the cost factor involved. It doesn't sound to bad at all...especially on the clean stuff.
For how small and limited its features.. it shows off being quite versatile, shows the capacity of the guitar and the player.

I liked the clean tones better than the driven ones, but it has a really nice tube 'feel' that none of my modelling stuff had. Even though it's a very naked amp to play through, it's pretty fun. Whatever you put into it is what comes out. I still need to mess around with it, but the amp has a nice honest sound and would be awesome for someone who did studio work or played blues and wanted a very small yet cool rig.

I think I'm going to do some research and see if I can find a small (under 10") speaker that doesn't sound like crap and build a cab around it. This thing has a built in speaker that sounds like half a headphone that is ready to die.

I bought it used. They sell new for $425ish. Crazy little amp, but it's cool when it powers up and the pissant little tubes glow.

Cool. Always loved the look of that little thing.

I've got a pair of Marshall mini stack 10" speaker cabs from my Marshall Lead 15 if you want them, Pete. I'd still like to get the head moded, though.

                  1. is that an ash, or alder strat?
                  2. what bridge pup is that?
