I just put a BBE 362NR into my rack rig last night. I have it in the loop of my Peavey Rock Master and have been messing with it a bit. The noise reduction isn't on the same level as a Hush, but is actually great for eliminating some of the "scratch" I usually get with Peavey (pre)amps. I know the 362 isn't the model of choice for most people, but it definitely has some potential. Not sure how the Rock Master Ultra channel and active EQ compare to the 5150/6505 or Triple XXX, but I'm trying to more or less get the Swedish death metal rhythm tone, albeit in standard tuning. I can't crank it up here in my apartment, but am looking for suggestions to try next time I'm in the studio.

Not to diminish your 362. But, I used the 362 (without NR) for a bit and ditched it and went back to my 422. The 362 was always too sizzly even on low setting. They are certainly different sounding units.
I think the 362 is technically a better and improved BBE (higher fidelity etc), but more suited to PA and recording full range stuff I'm thinking really. The 422 seems better suited and sounds better (IMO) with guitar amps. Probably less frequency response range or something rolls off some less than attractive freqs that the 362 manipulates better etc... And, that may not be so great for guitar.
BTW, I'd also try it between the preamp and the power amp as well, just to see how it responds, it may act different there as opposed to the effects loop placement.

I agree that the 362 is pushed as more of a recording/PA unit, but since my rack rig is going to be used specifically for recording, some of the components pull double duty, both for guitar use and other "general" recording purposes. I use an ART Tube Channel as a guitar EQ, but might use it as a mic pre and compressor too, depending on what happens. The 362 does have a lot of sizzle, but it also can dial *out* a lot of the harsh highs in my brief experience so far. At this point, it's more of an experiment, as I'm sure I could get good results with just the Rock Master's EQ alone. But we had a tough time EQing the guitars in the past, and ended up using a lot of software plug-ins that sucked out a lot of the tone.
I'll have to try it between the preamp and power amp though, like you said. The manual shows it that way, with no mention of running it in an effects loop.

Really, when you can get a 422 for like 50 bucks, why use something less? Use the 362 dedicated to recording full range stuff. I have the BBE software plug in, and like it for recording MUCH better than the units actually (BTW).
I actually don't even want a BBE in my rig anymore and have several. IMO, they just process the sound too much (especially the post 422 units). And although they do wake up a 5150 a lot, I've learned from a few guys here that can make a 5150 sound pretty awesome without one, that they aren't "really" needed.
