I used to have one of these suckers.

I don't even know where it is or what happened to it. I lost track. I tried to buy one on Ebay recently and my jaw hit the floor when I saw how much they were going for.

IIRC it's 3X more than I paid for a brand new one, never mind a 25 year old unit that's been dropped a hundred times (and you know it's been dropped because people used to buckle them on their belts).

I never read a good reveiw about Kranks or from guys I know.. but I NEVER heard a bad recording of one either..

Tell me, what kind of tone do you go for..have you ever played a Uberschall (what I have) and what are your thoughts..

Kranks are not discussed very much here..but some of my favorite bands/players use them...so I'm curious.

It has a very nuique Gain channel. It's very heavy but clear at the same time. You hear everything. I have heard the Uberschall and it has a modern gain like that. Andy Sneaps tone is very close to my tone. It's alittle different as he uses the Krankenstien. It has even more gain. If you ever get a chance to play one for yourself, you may be inpressed. I was and I'm cridical with my tone.

This will depend on if you get to play a new one or a used one.

More headroom and volume than any one person should be allowed to possess...glad to see you don't have the "my parent's patio furniture wicker"-version!

Awesome amps for the money, I think they're still about $300 or so....

Was it Tommy Gervins that you bought the amp from? just curious, he's a friend of mine, more of a friend of a freind, but a great player in every style.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

Dude, that XP head is sooo rare. They were going for like 500+on ebay almost 5 years ago.

Here's my Peavey Heritage I bought new in 1985. It was my first "real" amp and I still plug her in every now and again.

I have a sweet 1988 Carvin X100B head that sounds great. It has EL34`s. Takes pedals very well and the clean channel is very clean. Not as loud as some 100 watt heads though.
